Wright and read at the golden Wedding celebration of Mr. and Mrs. W.V. Wigginton, October 25, 1927. Note by transcriber -I take it that the wedding date was October 1877? Twas a happy day in the long ago, When a fair young couple whom we all know, Plighted their troth as husband and wife, And began their journey together through life. Just fifty years have passed away, And we have come together today, Our compliments of love and respect to show, To Mr. Billy and Miss Mary, you know. They've traveled together down through the years, Sharing their joys and mingling their tears, And today, tho' there's silver among the gold They cling together as in days of old. Their friends they number by the score, Yea, even by the hundreds, and more; To them their doors they open wide Bidding them enter and abide. Friends to their pastors they've ever been, Always tenderly taking them in; Giving them shelter and something to eat, Willingly sharing their bread and meat. Only once has a vacant chair been left, When of Bryant, their eldest, they were bereft, He grew to manhood, brave and strong, But the Father saw fit to call him home. A splendid family they have raised, All living near and brightening their days; A jolly crowd when they're all together, Whether it's rain or sunshiny weather. There's Maude and Alma, Will and Ollie, George and Tom, the twins so jolly, Last but not least comes Miss Aline, A finer girl, you've never seen. Excellent choices their children did make, As their partners for life they decided to take. Now Charlie and Humphrey, Margaret and Lee, Carrie May and Mary are these, you see. Their grandchildren number exactly eight, Only one of these has found her mate, To the other seven, we extend these wishes That all they catch may be "big fishes." Now,one more wish would we add to this, That the days that follow be full of bliss, That every joy that this world can know, The Father, on them, may kindly bestow. And then, when the summons for them shall come, And they shall at last be gathered home, May they, their friends and loved ones meet, And the family circle be complete. William Vaughn Wigginton married Mary Thompson Bryant 25 Oct. 1877. Aline WIGGINTON ALCORN, youngest, died 1998 at age of 97.
