All rights reserved. p.530 , Will of HENRY FREDERICK KALFUS, gives to daughter Elizabeth Field, of Illinois, one negro girl named Jin, whom she took into her possession at time of marriage. To grandchildren, the infant heir of deceased daughter Lucinda Hite, a negro girl Nancy. To daughter Margaret Ann McHatton, the negro girl Vina and the negro girl Sarah. The balance of slaves to all heirs (the infant heirs of daughter Lucinda, dec’d, to represent her share), taking into consideration that all should be equal and each to have an equal share of the estate. All the household goods and kitchen furniture, stock of horse, cattle, sheep and hogs, farming utensils, & etc., are to be sold and the money arising therefrom, after payment of just debts and funeral expenses, to be divided among heirs as hereafter directed. Wife shall have two rooms in the house, the bedroom and shedroom, for her life, and she to be supported out of the proceeds of the farm to be worked by son JAMES KALFUS. Son James Kalfus shall take possession of the tanyard and work the same, rent free, for five years, if the place in which testator now lives shall remain unsold so long. Desires son to remain on the plantation and work it to the best advantage and to support testator’s wife out of the proceeds. Said son James and daughter Mary Ann are to have the balance of the house until sold. Upon death of wife, or before if she consents and relinquishes her rights upon being paid what executors shall think right, the plantation shall be sold and the proceeds divided among all the heirs, considering the infant children of daughter Lucinda Hite as one of them, and the children of any other child who may die before the division also representing one share. In the division of the estate, it is to be understood that testator has advanced to son SIMEON N. KALFUS $242.56, to son HENY KALFUS $385.00, to son James Kalfus $100.00, and to daughters, each $100.00, which amounts are to be deducted from their respective shards. Appoints sons James Kalfus and JACOB W KALFUS as executors. November 17, 1831. Witnessed by JOHN R. MOORE and SAMUEL FREDERICK, JR. Adds that no more land is to be cleared or green timber cut. Probated November 5, 1833. James F. Kalfus and Jacob W. Kalfus qualified as executors, and entered into bond of $10,000.00 with JAMES McHATTON, JOHN B. HEAFER, JEREMIAH L. KALFUS, and SIMEON N. KALFUS as sureties.
