Young John Butler. John Butler was the son of Thomas Butler, one of the old sheriffs of Jessamine county, under the Constitution of 1779. He was born in Jefferson county, Va., in July, 1813, and was only six years old when his father settled in Jessamine county. He was a kind, honest and upright man, and commanded the respect and confidence of his fellow-citizens. He was deputy sheriff two terms, and died March 1, 1870.
