Justices & ) John Lewis ) Deed Book A 1799-1810 April Court 1800 Page 91 Ordered that Mensah Singleton be permitted to resign his appointment as Surveyor of Burds of road from County Line to Prichetts Pond and that Is??? Night be appointed in his stead and to call on the hands formerly allotted for that Purpose The persons appointed to view the ground through which a road is proposed to be conducted from the seal of Justice to the end of Samuel McDowells land have made the Following report, to wit, In obedience to the worshippful Court of Jessamine County we James Dudgeon, Jesse Polly and Caleb W. McDowell have viewed a way for a road xxxx x xxxx from the end of Samuel McDowells Lane passing through the Land of Samuel McDowell, and a Corner of M. Gilberts Land, then through the improved and unimproved Land of the Heirs of Mr Dickinson Deceased then Passing through Blackford Land leaving the Corner to the left, Striking the Line a few poles from the Corner thence along the said Blackford Holdwater linetil it intersects the hickman road. Deed Book A 1799-1810 April Court 1800 Page 92 On the motion of Frances Cox It is ordered that a License be granted him to keep a Tavern at his home in this County upon his giving his Security whereupon he together with James Carney his Security entered into and acknowledged their Bond in the Penalty of 150 Conditioned as the Law directs On the motion of Ambrose Bourn and upon his producing Testimony to the satisfaction of the Court (Harry a negro boy) (? those ?able) that " was under age to Taxation It is considered by the Court that he be exempled from paying Tax on said negroe untill he attains to the age of sixteen years On the motion of James Overstreet and upon his producing Testimony to the satisfaction of the Court of the informity & unsutitaly of Lucy a negroe woman It is considred by ? that he be here after exempted from paying Tax and County Levy on said negro Slave Power of Atorney between Andrew Saultsman of the one part and Joseph Daugherby of the other as pro duced in Court and proved by the oaths of Bay??? in N????????? & Gabriel Madison two of he ????????????????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????????????????????????? Deed Book A 1799-1810 April Court 1800 Page 95 Ordered that James Bates pay Stephen Woods two Shillings and a penny for his Attending one day as a Witness for him on his appeal as shown also 3p for Travelling nine miles The previous appointed to view the ground through which a road is proposed to be conducted from the xxxxx Hickman road to intersect the shugar creek and so as to pass Metcalfs mill have made the following report to wit. Agreeable to an order of the County Court of Jessamine to us directed ? Walter Wyalla Frances Miller and John Freeman being first duly sworn have viewed the ground which a road is proposed to be conducted from the hickman road to pass Jlae Metcalfs Mill from thence to intersect the sugar creek at little heckman, as follows beginning where the sugar creek road crosses Little heckman road, thence with ther shugar creek road within about one Quarter of a mile of heck man creek thence leaving sugar creek road & running with the present mill way that leavs from sugar creek road to said Mill and Crossing heckm an creek a small distance below said Mills to Aron Blakemans's passing his house and heading through his plantation down a ridgeto intersect shugar creek road at Little heckman ?????????? ????????????????????????????????????????????????? Deed Book A 1799-1810 April Court 1800 Page 96 and no disadvantage to individuals ??????? ?????? upon consideration whereof the same is thought convenient Present James Johnson Esq. Ordered that the former order of this court appointing Philip Webber Surveyor of the heckman road be rescinded and the James Owens be appointed in his room and to call on the hands formerly allotted to said Webber to work in the above precincts Joseph Hunter ??? is charged on Oath by Sarah Coleman of the County single woman with being the father of her bastard child & together with Samuel Hunter hands bound by recognizance to appear here at this Court to abide by and perform the order of this court concerning the same appeared & thereupon the parties being heard the Court doth upon that hearing and upon the circumstances of the case adjudge the said Joseph Hunter to be the father of said Bastard child and that such child is likely to become chargeable to the county. It is therefore Ordered that the said Joseph Hunter be bound together with Securities to be appraised of by the court for the Payment of fifty pounds in the following proportions during the space of ?even years, First Ten pounds annually for the two first years & one pounds per annum for the five succeeding years whereupon the said Joseph Hunter Together with George Davidson & John Hunter Entered into ????? ???????????????????????????????????????? ????????????????????????????????????????????????? Deed Book A 1799-1810 May Court 1800 Page 97 In the different proportions as in the above order ????? and he is therefore discharged from is said recogni zance entered into before the Justice of the peace On the Motion of George Walker and William Walker Executors named in the last will and Testament of George Walker de ceased who made oath thereto and together with John Free man & Walter Wyalle and Thomas Caldwell their same relics entered into and acknowledged their Bond as directed by law It is ordered that a certificate thereof be granted them to obtain a probat thereof in due form Ordered that ??????? ????? pay Sally Coleman Two shillings and a penny for attending one day as a witness for him on his appeal to this Court against James Bates Ordered that the different proprietors of Land through which the different roads are proposed to be conducted be summoned to such to shew cause if any they can why said road should not be opened according to the report of the viewers appointed for that purpose An inventory of the estate of Spencer Howard dec. was this day returned to Court and order to be recorded Ordered that the Court adjourn till Court in Course William Lewis Deed Book A 1799-1810 May Court 1800 Page 98 May Court began and held for the County of Jessamine at the Court house thereof on Monday the 20th day of May Eighteen Hundred Present William Lewis ) Tho Caldwell ) Gent Justices George Walker ) Ordered that the former order of this Court-- appointing James Night Surveyor of Curds road from the County line to Prechetts pond be rescinded and James Night appointed Surveyor of said road from the road that crossed Curds road leading from Captain Cagers to George Neals, to prechetts pond and Joseph Daugherty appointed from said to the County Line such to Lexington and that Michael Coger and James Williams be appointed to allot the hands to work on the above Precincts Ordered that the former order of this Court appointing William Marshall surveyor of Todds road from the hickman road to the County Line be recinded and Willliam Marshall be appointed surveyor of said road from the hickmand road to Wymons Branch and Abner Young appointed surveyor of said road from Wymans Branch to the County Line and that William Anderson and Richard Young be appointed to allot the hands to work on the above precincts (VERY FAINT) ???????????????? Fry of the other part was proven in Court by the oaths of George Walker David Walker and Walter Wyatte Subscribing Witnesses thereto & ordered to be recorded An Indenture of bargain and sale between James Hawkins Attorney in fact for Martin Hawkins of the one part and Willliam A.Fry of the other part was proven in Court by the oaths of George Walker David Walker & Walter Wyatte Subscribing Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded Parry W. Humphreys produced in Court his License properly authenticated as the Law directs whereupon he after having taken the several oaths prescribed by the Laws and Constitution of this state and Constitution of the united states was admitted to practice as a attorney in this Court. James Webb Jur ) This day came the parties aforesaid by their attornes and for reasons appearing to the Court It is ordered that the appeal aforesaid be Continued till next Court Ordered that Thomas Holeman be appointed Surveyor of the Frankford road from Jessamine Creek to clear creek in the room of John Allison who was formerly appointed for that purpose and that Johyn Weathers and Peter Allison be appointed to allot the hands to work on the above precinct Ordered that the Court adjourn till court in Course Will Lewis Order Book 1799-1810 June County Court 1800 Page 102 At a Court began and held for the County of Jessamine at the Court house thereof on Monday the 16th day of June Eighteen hundred Present William Lewis ) Thomas Caldwell ) William Scott ) Gent Justices John Lewis ) John Barry ) George Walter ) The Court doth recommend to the Governor of this Commonwealth Archer Dickerson, Manoah Singleton, James Martin, Samuel Morrow, John Hawkins, and Peter Higby Gentlemen, as proper persons to be Commissioned by him as Justices of the peace in and for the County of Jessamine An Indenture of Bargin and sale between George Walker and Rachel his wife of the one part and William A. Fry of the other part was presented in court acknowledged by George Walker a party thereto to be ?? ???? and Decd and ???? be recorded. Fry of the other part with the relinquishment of the said Lucy thereon inso??? was produced in Court and fully proven by the oaths of George Walker and Walter Wyatte two of the subscribing Witnesses thereto and ordered to record An Indenture of bargain and sale between James Hawkins attorney in fact for Martin Hawkins of the one part and William A. Fry of the other part was produced in court and fully proven by the oaths of George Walker and Walter Wyatte two of the subscribing Witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded Sarah Howard Adm. ) upon an appeal from of Spencer Howard Deceased ) the Judgment of William ) Lewis Esquire for two pound Against ) seventeen shillings and ten ) pence James Webb Jw. ) This day came the parties aforesaid by their Attorney and the Court having heard the evidence produced. together with the ???????? ????????????????????????????????????????????? Order Book 1799-1810 June County Court 1800] Page 104 that the judgment aforesaid be Confirmed for two pounds and four pence and that the appellee recover of the appellant the aforesaid sum also his Costs by him about his defense in this behalf expended and the sē appellant in mercy Jr. Willis Williams infant orphan of James Williams Deceased came into Court and with their approba tion made choice of James Willliams for his Guardian. Whereupon the said James Williams with Marston Clay his security entered into and acknowledged their Bond in the penalty of Two hundred pounds for Securing the said orphans estate and indemnifying the Court Ordred that James Webb Jwr. Pay William Lewis Esq two shillings and a penny for his attending one day as a Witness for ?mi Ad. Howard. Ordered that the former order of this Court appoint Rob. Bowls Surveyor of Lewis's Smith road be rescinded and that Thomas Overstreet be appointed in his room and to call on the hands formerly allotted to work on the above Precinct.
