Logan, on March 3, Mrs. Mary Garrard White sank peacefully to rest after an illness of five days. Mrs. White was born in London, Laurel County, Ky., on Jan. 6, 1824; shortly after this date her parents moved to Clay County and in this picturesque portion of "Kentucky Switizerland" her long life was chiefly spent. She was the daughter of Colonel David Garrard and a granddaughter of James Garrard, the only Govenor of Kentucky who ever enjoyed the distinction of being elected to fill two successive terms. The widow of James White, who died many years ago, she leaves a large relationship, seven children, nineteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren mourn her loss. The children are T.J. White and Mrs. B. P. White, of Fayette County; Mrs. H.P. Tandy, Stansburg, Mo.; Mrs. Hiram Farris, Norris, Montana; Mrs. J.W. Floore, Jeffersontown, Ky. and Mrs. Emma W. Logan of this place. The Hon. Jno. D. White is a nephew. Funeral services were conducted at the home of Mrs. Logan Saturday afternoon by Dr. W. F. Taylor.
