The cemetery, unusal as it is, sets on low ground near the road and most of it is heavily overgrown, so it is believed that this listing only represents a small portion of the burials here. There are many stones laying down under the brush and vines which have taken over this cemetery. Only the newest Davis grave area is kept cleaned off. This property, still in my family, was owned by Joseph Harrison Nickell and wife Samantha Q. Rhoton in the 1850's. After Joseph died in a Civil War skirmish in 1861, Samantha married William Davis, and the property then went to Larue B. Nickell Davis, wife of John B. Davis. The A. W. Nickell reference found here, is to Alexander Washington Nickell, brother of Joseph Harrison Nickell, who married Katherine Salyer, found buried here. There are supposed to be slave graves here, unmarked as well. All information found on stones, except in (). Gladys Jo Sutherlin 1929 1929 Daughter of Lillie M. Davis John B.
