ORR 3218, Kenton Co. Surname: Orr, Bond, Ritchey Kentucky: A History of the State, Battle, Perrin, & Kniffin, 7th ed.,Kenton Co. JAMES P. ORR, a native of New Liberty, Owen Co., Ky., was born April 5, 1835, and is a son of James P. and Jane (Bond) Orr, natives, respectively, of Owen County, Ky., and Culpeper County, Va. Robert Bond, the maternal grandfather of our subject, a native of Virginia, was one of the early settlers of Owen County, Ky., and William H. Orr, his paternal grandfather, first settled in Scott County, and afterward moved to Owen County. James P. Orr, the father of our subject, was a merchant in New Liberty; he also served one term in the State Senate and one or two terms in the Lower House; he was born in 1804, and died in March, 1882. Until 1869 our subject was engaged in mercantile business at New Liberty, when he removed to Covington, Kenton County, and leased a hotel, which he conducted three years. Subsequently he associated himself with a National Board of Underwriters in Cincinnati, Ohio, one year, and in 1874 was elected city auditor of Covington, of which office he is the present incumbent. In April, 1861, he married Miss Lucy Ritchey, of New Liberty, who bore him three children, viz: Irene, Jennie and Lula. Mr. Orr is a member of the Masonic fraternity, and casts his vote with the Democrats
