WISE is a native of Virginia, born June 29, 1817, and is the fifth of a family of eight children born to N. S. and Caroline (McKenny) Wise. N. S. Wise was born in Alexandria, Va.; was a lawyer by profession, and died in January, 1831. T. N. Wise and his mother came to Kentucky in 1831, and settled in Newport. He received a good education, attended four full courses of medical lectures, taking the degree of M. D., March 4, 1837. He located in Covington, March 7, 1837, at which place he has since resided. June 1, 1837, he married Miss Missouri Arnold, of Covington, a daughter of James Arnold. One child blessed their union, James S., who read medicine under his father, and graduated in that profession in Cincinnati, then went to Edinburgh, Scotland, and again graduated. He is now located in Covington. Mrs. Missouri Wise died in 1847, and November 9, 1852, the Doctor married Miss C. B. McGill, of Virginia, a daughter of John G. McGill. The Doctor and his wife are members of the Baptist Church. He has been president of the State medical society for twelve years, and was president of the Covington school board. Dr. Wise is one of the best citizens of Covington. He is a gentleman of ability, culture and varied accomplishments. His neighbors and immediate friends find him an able and judicious counselor on any subject, ever ready to assist by his counsel, or if need be by his means.
