Michael Beck, 71, died Friday night at his home, Kenton-Moffetts-Wood-pike, 
Oak Island, after a lingering illness.  He had been in failing health nearly 
five years.
   
Beck was a lifelong resident of Kenton-co and was widely known. He is 
survived by his widow Mrs. Theresa Beck; five sons, John H., Chris, Joseph, 
Frank and Leo Beck, all of Kenton-co and 14 grandchildren.
   
Funeral services for Beck will be held Monday, with requiem high mass 
at 9 am at St. Cecilia Church, Independence. Burial will be in St. Cecilia 
Cemetery.
