CLEVELAND DEAD: Mrs. Henrietta Esther Cleveland, 90, died last night at her home, 33 East Fourth st., Newport, where she resided with her niece, Mrs. L. Hommedieu. She was a member of one of Kentucky's oldest and wealthiest families, being the granddaughter of Major Jacob Fowler, a United States civil engineer, and of Esther Devee Fowler, who at one time owned a large part of Covington, part of it being the sites on which the St. Mary's Cathedral and St. Elizabeth Hospital now stand. Mrs. Cleveland was a devoted Catholic and was the organizer of the Rosary Society and the Martha and Mary Society, of which she was President for years. The funeral will take place from St. Mary's Cathedral tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock. The Kentucky Post, dated 13 May 1907, page 8: Woman Settler of Covington Is Dead Mrs. Henrietta Esther Cleveland, 90, probably the oldest resident of Covington, died at her home, 33 East Fourth st. Sunday. She organized the Rosary Society and the Martha and Mary Society, being President of both for years. Mrs. Cleveland's parents at one time owned almost the entire land upon which Covington now stands. The Kentucky Post, dated 15 May 1907, page 2: DEATHS The funeral of Henrietta Esther Cleveland was held yesterday at St. Mary's Cathedral, Rev. Father Brossart and Fathers O'Dwyer and Hillenmeyer officiating. The pallbearers were Messrs. John Dillion, William A. Bryne, Dr. J. A. Cassidy, Dr. Wm. F. Reilly. The interment was at St. Mary's Cemetery.
