CEMETERIES: Francis Bolen Cemetery Knott County Kentucky -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Contributed for use in USGENWEB Archives: Mack Holliday mackholl@tgtel.com Date: July 30, 2002 Subject: CEMETERIES: Francis Bolen Cemetery Knott County Kentucky --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Francis Bolen Cemetery is located on Rockfork on Point behind the Pine Trees and just off Route 80. Park at Wheatly Bolen Cemetery and climb the steep point. You may drive to the house on the hill and it is just a little walk behind it but they have a mean dog and may not be home but it would be worth a try. N37-26 629, W082-54-324. Will, if you have Street Atlas 4.0 or another good map program. This cemetery is badly grown up and stones in bad shape. According to family tradition Wheatly Bolen was buried between his two women so that would mean the sandstone on his right would be his another of his two wives whose name was possibly Mary. Someone correct me if I am wrong, Please. Whitley was what was written on his stone but everyone tells me his name is Wheatly. Also found an old stone seperated from rest and it had the letters B.B. carved on it. May have been old stone or footstone for Bitha Bolen but not sure. Michael Bolen, twin brother of Bruce Bolen is supposed to be buried here also. Chuckell Bolen was brother of Bruce is here and identified. Most was infants. Some had nice stones for their period of time but made of sandstone and names etc eroded away.
