She was the daughter of the late Hugh and Lucy Metcalf Martin and was born in Knox County, Kentucky on February 9, 1922. Virginia was a homemaker and a member of the First Apostolic Church in London, Kentucky. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Cheslie Ellison; one daughter, Shirely Cole; two sons, Vigil Ellison and Harold Ellison; two brothers, Hugh Edward Martin and Kenneth Martin; four sisters, Rosie Johnson, Nellie Dozier, Jane Bryant and Georgia Jefferies; and two half- brothers, Clyde Martin and Richard Martin. Survivors are two sons, Carl Ellison (Cindy) of Corbin and Bill Ellison (Theresa) of Corbin; one daughter-in-law, Joyce Ellison of Corbin; two sisters, Dale Rogers of Louisville, Kentucky and Willow Jean Ellison of Erlanger, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; special friend, Rethea Gregory; several nieces and nephews; and a host of family and friends who mourn her passing. Visitation was from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at the Corbin Funeral Home. Funeral services were conducted at 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 17, 2005 at the Corbin Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Thurston Hensley and the Reverend Steve Cole officiating. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Corbin, Knox County, Kentucky with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Corbin Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
