Writer for Newspapers Dies in Lexington. Lexington Ky. April 10--Miss Letitia Peter, 81 years old, is dead at her country home, "Winton" of infirmities due to old age. She was a daughter of the late Dr. Robert Peter, one of the South's most distinguished scientists, and a sister of Dr. Alfred Peter, of the Kentucky Experiment Station. (Webster County weekly) TODD WAIDE, 62, DIES SUDDENLY Augusta Todd WAIDE, 62, Princeton street, died suddenly at 4 p.m. Monday at the home of Mrs. S.C. LOFTON, near Providence, where he was doing repair work. Death was attributed by Coroner J. Murray BLUE to a heart attack. He was born in Crittenden county Aug. 26, 1885, a son of Mrs. Minnie Waide and the late Edd F. Waide. He had lived in Providence for a number of years. Survivors are the wife; one daughter, Mrs. Irene DUNBAR, Providence; two sons, Clinton, of Evansville, and William Edward, Providence; his mother, Mrs. Minnie Waide, Providence; four grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. Celia HILLYARD, Nebo, Mrs. Flora MARVEL, of Mt. Vernon, Ind., Mrs. Edith McDOWELL, Mishawake, Ind., Mrs. Susie EAST, of Evansville, and Mrs. Amanthus LLOYD, Providence; and seven brothers, Willie and Bertie, of Providence, Goldie and Alvie, Henderson, Ewell and Richard, Evansville, and Woodie, of Shady Grove. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in White Oak church, with the Rev. Johnie ROBISON of Madisonville officiating. W. Wilson, of Hanson Section, Is Victim of Team of Frightened Horses J. W. Wilson, 58, a farmer of the Hanson section, died this morning in the Madisonville hospital from injuries received on April 14. Mr. Wilson was driving his team of horses to Hanson for the purpose of plowing some gardens. He had his dog tied, but the dog got loose and began following him. He stopped the team and got out of the wagon to make the dog go back home. The team became, made a lunge and jerked him down. He got up and the team jerked him down again. It jerked him down the third time, and threw him onto a wheel of the wagon, causing his spine to be injured and paralyzed him from the shoulders down. Wilson was born in Tennessee, but lived in the Hanson section 38 years. He was a member of the Mt. Gilead General Baptist Church. He is survived by his widow, four sons, Sam Wilson, Whit Wilson, Mody Wilson and Homer Wilson, all of Chicago, and four daughters, Mrs. Hallie Nance, of Madisonville, Mrs. Pauline Mauer, of Chicago, Miss. Fred Chaney, 30, traveling salesman, died suddenly at 10 o'clock this morning at his home at Pikeville, Ky., relatives here were advised today. No details were conveyed in the death message. Chaney had been ill several days, according to reports. Surviving are his widow, formerly Miss Lorene Martin, city, and other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted at Pikeville at 1:30 o'clock Friday afternoon with burial in a cemetery there. (Cummings) Kirkwood, 91, of Dunedin, Fla. and formerly of Madisonville, died at 3:20 a.m. Thursday at Clearwater Comunity Hospital in Clearwater, Fla. Born Nov. 4,1900 in Vanderburgh Co., Ind. , she was the daughter of the late Bethel Cummings and Magdalene Kamphincle Cummings. She was a member of the Baptist faith and she was a retired secretary at Camp Breckenridge during World War ll. She was preceded in death by her husband, Omar L. Kirkwood, on March 18, 1967, and by five brothers and sisters. She is survived by a sister, Christine Hahn of Evansville, Ind.; and several neices and nephews. Services will be Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of Harris Funeral Home with Rev. Archie Oliver officiating. Burial will be in Oddfellows Cem. in Madisonville. Friends may call Sunday from 8 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
