Essentially this page noted the movement of people OUT of the "hundred" where they had resided into another "hundred" and sometimes out of Delaware. Keep in mind the people mentioned could have actually moved years before and the tax taker could have just been updating the status of properties. The names appear as written and are complete since there may be other names people are interested in and associated or allied families may be apparent to a person that knows a specific lineage intimately. DeMoss Obit, Hopkins Co., KY From Unnamed newspaper.(most likely the Messenger) Photocopy sent to me by JoAnn Hornby.--- Maria Troutman Jesse DeMoss, 88, of Madisonville, died at midnight Monday at the Kentucky Rest Haven. He was born Feb. 2, 1891 in Vandetta, KY, the son of the late Peter W. and Alice Crabtree DeMoss. He was a retired farmer, a veteran of World War I, a member of the American Legion and Emberry United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Flora Tapp DeMoss of Madisonville; two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Myrtle) Hill of Princeton Road, Madisonville and Ruth Elizabeth DeMoss of Dawson Springs; four sons, Marvin A. DeMoss of Charleston, IN., Charles W. of Albuquerque, NM., Jesse W. DeMoss of Evansville, IN., and Hugh DeMoss of Evansville; a sister , Mrs. Erskine Holbert of Akron, OH; 18 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, William R. DeMoss in 1967 and Bernice A. DeMoss in 1973. The funeral will be at 2pm today at the Barnett-Strotter Funeral Home with Rev. DeMoss, 29, a former resident of Madisonville, was killed Thursday afternoon when struck by a train in New Orleans, LA., it was learned here today. He had been in New Orleans about two weeks. Reports said that DeMoss was walking down the railroad tracks when he was hit by the train. Surviving are the parents, Mr. & Mrs. Jesse S. DeMoss, 518 Pride Place; two sisters, Miss Ruth Elizabeth DeMoss, Hopkinsville, and Mrs. Myrtle Hill, with her husband, who is serving in the armed forces in Germany; five brothers, Marvin A. DeMoss, Charlestown, IN.; Charles W. DeMoss, Albuquerque, NM.; Jesse W. DeMoss ,Evansville, Hugh DeMoss, Owensboro; and Bernice DeMoss, Louisville, KY; and four young daughters, Teresa, Pamela, Karen and Kathy DeMoss, all of Madisonville. Funeral services will be held at 2pm Monday at Providence Rural Methodist Church near Hanson. The Rev. Paul Sayre will officiate at the final rites and interment will be in the church cemetery.
