He is a director in the Dry Ridge Deposit Bank and a large stockholder. In politics he is a Democrat of the Downingsville type, and has been an ardent party worker for many years. He has never been a candidate for any office and never expects to be. He was married to Miss Sarah E. Conrad, a sister of Hon. J. C. B. Conrad, in November, 1868. Eleven children have been born to this union, eight girls and three boys, all of whom are living, and eight of them whom are living at home with the father, the other three being married, except young Robert, who is Deputy Sheriff of Grant County under Sheriff G. Many, many graves there are marked with a piece of stone stuck in the ground at the head and foot of the grave, also there are numerous sunken graves. Relatives of those buried there are scattered across the U.S.A. I have been successful in contacting some and 17 of us donated money to have the cemetery cleaned off. In 1995, the initial cleaning took place. In the spring of 1996 the cleanup was completed, the V.F.W. post in Pikeville was contacted and Mr. Hamilton saw to it that flags were placed on the graves of the six brave soldiers buried there. The inventory of the cemetery took place in the fall of 1996. I hope that everyone will continue to support this project so we can continue to have the cemetery cleaned each year. Anyone wishing to contribute to this project may do so. Make your check payable to Sansom/Woodman Cemetery and mail it to} Patricia (East) Denney 3822 Elmcrest Drive Fort Wayne, IN 46809 219-747-0674 denney@mail.fwi.com Money is withdrawn from the Sansom/Woodman account to pay for yearly cleanup and for postage to update each contributor yearly about the cemetery, donations received, and expenditures made. In the future I would like to do a brief history on the people who are buried at Sansom/Woodman Cemetery. Any information (spouse, parents, children, birth place, etc.) you have on those buried there would be helpful. Patricia East Denney ------------------------------ From: "C.
