RONNIE POWELL Ronnie Powell, Sturgis, died early Tuesday evening at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville. Mr. Powell had worked at Ohio 11 coal mines for several years, and he was active in the summer ball program, coaching for many years. He is survived by his wife, Shirley; three daughters, Kim Wright of Florida, Jenny Jones of Henshaw, and Ashley Powell, at home; one son, Jeremy Powell, of Sturgis; his mother and father, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar Powell, also of Sturgis; two sisters, Helen Bunner of Sturgis and Libbi of Illinois; and five grandchildren. Services are pending at Whitsell Funeral Home in Sturgis. KENNETH LYNN STROUSE Kenneth Lynn Strouse, 35, Steger, IL., formely of Morganfield, died Monday at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights, IL. Mr. Strouse was a systems analyst for ESI Enterprise Systems in Wheeling, IL. Previously, he was a supervisor in computer department at Columbia Olympia Fields Osteopathic Hospital & Medical Center for 10 years. He was a graduate of Prarie State College with a degree in computer service. Survivors include one daughter, Danielle Marie Strouse; his mother and father, Peggy J. and Bill L. Strouse of Matteson, IL; and one brother, Gary W. Strouse of Matteson, IL. Services were at 12 noon Saturday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, with burial in Odd Fellow Cemetery. BETTY COLLINS Betty Collins, 72, Woolbridge, VA, died Saturday, November 8th at 4:06 pm at her home after a lingering illness. Betty is survived by her husband, Richard; three sons, Joe, David, and Mike; five grandchildren; one sister; and three brothers of Germany. Local relatives are Bro. Don Collins, James Collins, Bessie Mills, and Bonnie Uzzle, and a host of nieces and nephews. Viewing was Sunday, November 16th and Monday, 17th, sat De Maine Funeral Home in Springfield, VA. Services were Tuesday at 3pm at the Fort Myers Chapel and burial was in Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C., with nephews, Scott Uzzle and Rev. George Besch officiating. LARRY PRICE Larry Price, 56, Sturgis, died at 4:19 pm Monday at Union County Methodist Hospital. Mr. Price was a retired coal miner and a member and Deacon of Church of God in Sturgis. Survivors include his wife, Betty; two daughters, Jerri Tackett and Lori Pride, of Sturgis; one son, Scott Price of Sturgis; his mother, Freda Price of Harrisburg, IL; three sisters, Helen Harrison, Haroletta Yates and Shirley Hill, all of Peoria, IL; four brothers, Jerry, Allen, Kenneth and Steven Price, all of Peoria, IL; and four grandchildren. Services will be at 11am Thursday at Whitsell Funeral Home with burial in Pythian Ridge Cemetery. Rev. Sam McMahon and Rev. Randy Farthing will officiate. Visitation will be from 10am Wednesday and 8am until service time Thursday. GEORGE W. DIXON SR. George W. Dixon Sr., 67, Hendeson, died at noon Wednesday, November 12th at his home. A retired custodian with the Kentucky State Unemployment Agency, he was a US Air Force Korean War Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Louise Dixon, who died in 1981. Survivors include one step daughter, Loritha Johnson of Hendeson; one son, George W. Dixon Jr., of Henderson; two sisters, Clara M. Anthony of Oklahoma City, OK and Beulah Jones of Kirkwood, MO; three brothers, John Vincent and Charles Vincent, both of Henderson, and Marvin Vincent of Morganfield; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. VERNA JOSEY Verna Mae Bryan Josey, 76, died Sunday night at the Community Methodist Hospital in Henderson. She was a General Baptist. Surviving is a daughter, Rebecca Josey of Morganfield. Her husband, Lonnie died in 1986. Services will be at 1pm today at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home in Madisonville, with burial in Concord Cemetery in White Plains. HARRY LEE FELTY Harry Lee Felty, 70, San Bruno, formerly of Morganfield, died at 1am Saturday at his home. Survivors include his wife, Helen; two daughters, Lydia Felty of San Bruno and Maudine Felty of San Francisco, CA; one son, Gary Felty of San Bruno; one sister, Judy L. Smith of Henderson; and two brothers, James Felty of Ocala, FL; and Jerry Felty of Hertford, NC. Just to highlight it. Bernard RUSSELBURG and Lucille BRADDOCK (daughter of Jimmie BRADDOCK) were married November 23, 1927 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Uniontown (Union Co., KY) by Rev. Julian T. Peters. They had 16 children, 12 survive, 41 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren, so far. They live in a home near Henshaw that he built in 1941. It says the couple are evidently the longest married couple in the county's history. They were honored with a reception on Saturday, November 22 at the St. Francis Brogia Parish Hall in Sturgis.
