Born in Hardin County, KY, on October 14, 1914, he was the son of Thomas and Mae (Gastineau) Priddy. He married Thelma Garland on May 23, 1936, and she died July 3, 1993. Surviving are three sons: Tom Priddy, Jerry Priddy, and Kirby Priddy, all of Bedford; one daughter, Sherri Scott of Bedford; two brothers: Garland Priddy of Owensburg, and Merlynn Priddy of Florida; ten grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and ten brothers and sisters. He was a farmer and retired from General Motors Powertrain in Bedford. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 440 and attended Oolitic Baptist and East Oolitic Baptist Church. Services for Charles Priddy will be at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 18th, at The Day & Carter Mortuary. Burial will follow in Hilltop Cemetery. Brashear - Edna E. Brashear of Bedford died Saturday, November 8, 1997, at her residence. Born in Hart County, KY, on February 3, 1926, she was the daughter of Willie and Loney (Wilcoxen) Redford. She was formerly married to Leo Brashear, and he survives. Surviving also are four daughters: Shirley Pace and Marsha Brown, both of Bedford, Rita Moore of Columbia TN, and Helen Hughes of Richmond Heights, OH; two sons: Johnny Brashear and Dennis Brashear, both of Bedford; two stepsons: Thomas Brashear of Bedford and Paul Brashear of Radcliffe, KY; three sisters: Mattie Thornton and Maryetta Waller, both of Bedford and Alberta Rice of Campbellsville, KY: one brother, Thomas Brown of Bedford: sixteen grandchildren; eight step grandchildren: seven great grandchildren and ten step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers: Willie Robert and William Winford Brown. She retired from General Motors Powertrain and was a member of Second Baptist Church of Bedford, United Auto Workers Local 440. She also bowled on several local leagues. Root of Bedford died Friday, November 7, 1997, at Bedford Nursing Home. The daughter of William and Lucy (Root) Hensley, she was born in Clay County, KY, on January 4, 1904. She married Walter Smith, who died in 1958. She then married George S. Root, who died in 1978. Surviving are two step-daughters, Edith Johnson of St. Louis, MO, and Jewell Shockley of Bedford; three step-sons: Merlin Root and Paul Root, both of Needmore, and Bob Root of Mississippi; her caregiver, Becky Miller of Bedford; one sister, Lula Harries of Manchester, KY; several step-grandchildren; several step great grandchildren and step great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three step-sons: Cletus Root, Ray Root, and Russell Root; four sisters: Sophia Gregory, Nell Reynolds; Claudie Root, and Dollie Hensley; three brothers: Dewey Hensley, Frank Hensley, and Henry Hensley: and four grandchildren. Wray - William Wray of Oolitic died Friday, November 7, 1997, at the Bedford Regional Medical Center. Born in Kentucky on December 23, 1914, he was the son of Wesley and Myrtie (Coop) Wray. He married Ethel Marie Davis, and she survives. Other survivors are one daughter, Joreena Pierce of Oolitic; three sisters: Eva Eads, Shirley Browning, and Helen Sharr, all of Oolitic; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Sarah Ellen, Monra Wagner, and Ruth Blackburn; and three brothers: Pete Wray, Wesley "Bud" Wray, and James Claude Wray. He was a member of Hilltop Pentecostal Church and was retired from Cummins Engine in Columbus, IN. Cornett - Vernon Cornett of Williams died Thursday, November 6, 1997, at Dunn Memorial Hospital in Bedford. Born in Hazard, KY, on February 9, 1924, he was the son of Boyd and Mary (McLemore) Cornett. He married Phyllis Wright in 1951, and she preceded him in death in 1966. He married Barbara Reynolds in 1967, and she survives. Also surviving are two step-sons: Tom Reynolds of Williams, IN, and Rick Reynolds of Bedford; five step-grandchildren; two step great grandchildren; four brothers: John Cornett of Williams, Fred Cornett, Walter Cornett, all of Williams, and Leonard Cornett of Shoals, IN; three sisters: Georgia Plummer of Williams, Sally Davies of Talladega, AL, and Hattie Bowman of Montgomery, AL; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Lawrence, Robert, Bill, and Troy Cornett; and one sister, Bertie Keith. An Army veteran of World War II, he was retired in 1973 from NAD Crane and was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Williams. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters. He was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church and retired as a truck driver for the city of Bedford.
