Applied for pension August 19, 1833 at age 76 from Oldham County, Kentucky. His wife applied for pension November 30, 1843 from Jefferson County, Indiana at age 81. They had 8 children. Jesse Law-------R 6188---------Oldham County Pension. The above named soldier was living in the county of Oldham, State of Kentucky, when he applied for pension of the date of August 19, 1833, aged 76 years. He stated that he was born in the County of Henrico, State of Virginia, date of January 9, 1750. He enlisted in the County of Pittsylvania, State of Virginia in April, 1777. He resided in the County of Pittsylvania until about 1800 when he moved to Kentucky and settled in Shelby County, which later became Oldham. He died November 14, 1839 in Hardin County, Kentucky. His widow, Mary, or Polly, Law, whose maiden name was Mary Willis, filed for pension in the County of Jefferson, State of Indiana, date of November 30, 1843, aged 84 years. She was living with a son-in-law, Francis Barnes. She was married to Jesse Law in the State of Virginia, County of Pittsylvania, date of December 1, 1780. She died April 23 1845. Francis Barnes made affidavit in Jefferson County, Indiana of November 31, 1843, that he married Avariller Law, daughter of Jesse and Mary Law on March 19, 1806, and that his wife was about 54 years old in 1843; and that Mary Law had been living at his house for about two years; and that the oldest child, Joel Law, died about 6 years previous, and that at the time of his death was about 54 years old. John Bell, aged 77 years, made deposition in Trimble County, Kentucky, December 1, 1843, that Mary Law was his aunt and he was present at her wedding. Anderson Law, no relationship stated, made affidavit December 15, 1852 that he was the executor of Jesse Law and that Mary Law died April 23, 1845. Daniel Law, no relationship stated, made affidavit in Trimble County, Kentucky, December 4, 1852, that he had been acquainted with Jesse and Polly Law since the year 1807, and that he was acquainted with their children, eight in number: Joel, Willis Law, Elisabeth Law, Sally Law, Averilla Law, John Law, Daniel Law, and Anderson Law, said Anderson being the youngest child and the executor of his father's estate. Susannah Law made affidavit in Jefferson County, Indiana, June 6, 1859, that She was the Widow of Joel Law, and that he would have been 66 (or 68) years old in 1850, but had been dead about 15 years. She further stated that she was at the death of Polly (Mary) Law in 1843 and that Polly Law left 5 children: Elizabeth LaMaster, Wife of Dick LaMaster; Sally Barnes, wife of John Barnes, Averilla Barnes, wife of Francis Barnes; Daniel Law and Anderson Law. Jesse Law of Hardin County Kentucky being weak of body but of a sound disposing mind, do make and constitute this my last will and testament in manner As follows: 1ST I Risin that my widow Polly Law have a plentiful support out of my estate during her life if she My widow to be furnished by my executors. 2ND I Desen that my deceased son Joel Law children have the one eighth part of all my estate after all my just debts are paid and a support kept for my widow. 3RD I Disen that my daughter Elizabeth Lemaster have one dollar and that her children have the balance of the one eighth of all my estate after the apportiontion for my widow and my debts are paid. 4TH I Disin that my deceased son Willis Laws children have the one eighth of all my estate after all my debts are paid and a support taken out for my widow. 5TH I Desire that my daughter Sally Barnes have the one eighth part of all my estate after my debts are paid and a support taken out for my widow. 6TH I Desire that my deceased sone John Laws children have the one eighth part of all my estate after my debts are paid and support is taken out for my widow. 7TH I Desire that my son Daniel Law have one eighth part of all my estate after my debts are paid and my widow has a plentiful support taken out. 8TH I Desire that my daughter Averilla Barnes have the one eighth part of all my estate after my debts are paid and a plentiful support taken out for my widow. 9TH I Desire that my son Anderson Law have the one eighth part of all my estate after my debts are paid and a plentiful support taken out for my widow. My daughter Elizabeth Lemaster has received one negro girl at five hundred dollars which is a part of my estate and is a part of her childrens legacy. My son Daniel has received one negro boy at two hundred and fifty dollars and one hundred and twenty-five dollars in cash as part of my estate and a part of his legacy which is to be deducted from their part on a settlement. I Desire that imidiatity after my death my executors inpose to public sale all the balance of my estate that has not been given to my children as a part of their legacies. Negroes and Land. I wish them to sell all on a Twelve months. I wish then to make a conveyance of land and negroes by need or any way that they may think proper which I authorise them to do in as full and ample a manner as I can do in person, and tasty I di constitute and I appoint my son Anderson Law and friend William Hamblien(???) This my last will and testament hereby revolking all other or former wills by me made. I wish my executors to act with out giving security and wish them to take the negros to Trimble County and thus sell them. Second I wish all my lawful debts paid and I wish my son Jesse to collect the money that is due me this winter and pay what I owe, if there is enough, I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Eady, during her normal life, four negros named Ellick, Saul, Caroline and Susan. as much of the household, and kitchen furniture as she wants one cart two yoke of oxen, four head of the choice house beasts, four cousten sheep and twenty hogs, and my said wife is to remain on the place like now live till her death, and my son Jesse and son Richard is to take charge of the negroes and property which I have given to my wife for lifetime and use therein and support their mother for lifetime and at her death then the said negroes and property to be equally divided among my eight oldest children or their legal heirs though her negroes to be relieved/divided or sold among the - ---oldest but the other two --- to John and Samuel is to have their equal part all my estate of every kind is to remain as it now is until the first day of November next at which time the executors may proceed safely. I give to my son Richard the tract of land I now live on except that part which lies below the branch up to where the line between my old tract and the tract formerly owned by Richard Oldham crossed the branch, one negro boy named Whaller the ----- mar----- he now owns one bed the furniture one cow one ----- and one suit of clothes say worth fifty dollars.
