Born in Grayson County, Ky., he was the son of Davis S. and Leann "Miller" Perkins. He married Hattie Willis Carby on July 14, 1928, and she survives. He was a retired custodian of Paoli Community Schools and a member of the Baptist faith. Surviving with his wife are three sons: Elmo Perkins of Paoli, George Perkins of Anderson and Jerry Perkins of Bloomington; three daughters: Cora Lena Halbert of Milan, Anna Lee Briscoe of Kokomo and Jane Guy of South Bend; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
