WEDNESDAY, MAY 27, 1998 FLORENCE GODSEY FAN. 14, 1916 - MAY 26, 1998 Florence Godsey, 82, R. 16 Box 182, died at 8:40 p.m. Tuesday at Hospitality House, Bedford, after a brief illness. Born in Somerset, Ky., she was the daughter of Jerry and Frances (Stigall) Ryan. She married Lloyd Godsey on July 14, 1935, and he died May 25, 1984. She was a homemaker and attended Dive Christian Church. Surviving are one daughter, Jeannie Lee of Bedford; one son, Robert Godsey of Bedford; three sisters: Mae Neal, Geneva Lawson and Frona Ray, all of Bedford; two brothers: Russell Ryan of Bedford and Monroe Ryan of Indianapolis; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons: Terry D. and James Godsey; two brothers: John Wesley Ryan and Joe Ryan; one sister, Vida Smoot, and one great-grandson. Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Day & Carter Mortuary, Bedford, with Johnny Johnson officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery, Bedford. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the mortuary. White has received his commission as U.S. Commissioner with headquarters at Mt. Vernon. A.R. Scott and family have arrived from Calera, Ala. Mr Scott is to form a partnership with the Mt. Vernon Lime co., and increase the capacity. They expect a large trade from the South and East Gen Jno B. Gorden will deliver his celebrated lecture, "The First Days of the Confederacy" at Walton's opera house, Stanford on Oct 4th Mr. Walton has gone to a great expense and troubl to secure the date and the people should show their appreciation of his efforts by crowding the house. D.C. Payne at Crab Orchard, has the neatest arranged store in that town and is doing anice business Ed. McHargue who is at Joseph Price Hospital, Stanford has recovered and will be at home in a few days Joshua Boreing has been assisting in the post office for a couple of weeks while Mr. Baker was engaged in other work W.R. Give them your insurance and be secured from fire Mrs James Houk received a letter last week from her husband, who is on a seven weeks visit to a son in Indiana. Mrs H. says this is the first letter she ever received from his hands since their marriage thirty years ago and she was as pleased as a young girl receiving a letter from her first sweetheart. Mr. Houk is greatly enjoying his visit. His business has alwways required his remaining at home and never before been away long enough to require his writing a letter to his wife. VERNON, KENTUCKY DISBARRED FROM INTERIOR DEPARTMENT PRACTICE Washington, Sept 30--Pension attorneys Sammuel B. McLean, of Pittsburg, Pa; M.M. Chase of Los Angeles CAl, and D.P. Bethuru, of Mt. Vernon, KY have been disbarred from practice before the Interior Department. The first two named are charged with demanding and receiving illegal pension fees, and Bethurum with filing forged declarations in pension cases. After Dick Williams beats Judge D.P. Bethurum he will have to seek other means for a livelihood than he has enjoyed. His occupation as pension attorney is gone, the department at Washington a dispatch says having debarred him from practice before the Interior Department because he is charge filing forged declarations in pension cases. If Dick goes on the stump and tells that on him the judge won't get enough votes to count, if the Republican voters are as honest as they ought to be. CIRCUIT COURT The case of J.H.
