Griffin and the two gallons of whisky were borught here and truend over to teh federal authorities COUNTY CONVENTION The convention held her Saturday was the most harmonious one held in many a day. The convention was called to order by acting chairman R.L. Brown, D.N. Williams was made temporary chairman, James Riddle secretary and Willie Owens assistant. The delegates from the precinct conventions wer all on hands and while everything went for Black, yet every member heartily concurred in saying that the democrats would be able to roll up a better vote this fall for the democratic nominee let him be who he may, than they have in many years. The following delegates were appointed to go to the Lexington convention: Rev A.J. Pike, Dr Benton, W.H. Jones, W.C. Mullins, D.S. McKinney, Squire J.N. Brown, Judge R.G. Williams and E.S. Albright That Republican Convention The Rockcastle Republican held thier county convention in the Court House here Saturday and while there was a very good crowd in attndance yet, it was not quite as harmonious as it might have been. Some wanted instructed and some uninstructed delegates. Judge P.D. Colyer, county chariman called the house to order and called for nominations for temporary Chairman. The side desiring to send uninstructed delegates nominated for their chairman S.D. Lewis, while the other side placed before the convention the name of Col A.N. Bentley, of Livingston. The vote was ten taken and Lewis declared elected by a vote of 99 to 76. Chairman Lewis then appointed a committee on Resolutions and the resolutions as drawn up by the committe and adopted by the convention delegated to the Chariman the power to select these delegates himself. The convention then adjourned without naming the delegates. Chariman Lewis holding that he had the right to name them on the outside. When Chariman Lewis refused to recognize Judge Colyer after a motion had been made to adjourn shouts of "Redwin" were heard from one side and responded to from the other by cries of "bolters". Before the convention had time to get out of the room it was called to order again by county chairman Colyer who desired to organize and hold another convention which was done. Col A.N. Bentley being elected temporary chairman of the second one. or as the outherside expressed "The Rump Convention". The second convention appointed its delegates and instructed them to cast the vote of Rockcastle for Hon John W. Yerkes. Teh mannier in which some of the Rockcastle men were treated at Nicholasville by Mr Yerkes was the reason they convention as whole did not instruct for him. B.J. Bethurum, Dr. John M.
