Indenture Grisham Lee Madison County, KY Deed Book M 1817-1819 Pages 299-300 FHC Film #0183289 This Indenture made this 5th day of January in year of 1818 between Thomas Hawkins and Rachel his wife of the County of Madison and State of Kentucky of the one part and Grisham Lee of the County and State aforesaid of the second part. Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part for and in Consideration of the Sum of Three hundred dollars Current money in hand paid and Secured have Granted bargained and Sold and by these presents to Grant bargain and Sell unto the said parties of the Second part all that Tract or parcel of land Situated and being in the County of Madison and on the waters of Paint Lick Creek Containing Seventy Two acres and bounded as follows to wit: Beginning at Two black ashes blue ash and hawbush [?] on the dividing line between said Hawkins and James Sewell thence due West 76 poles to two Spanish oaks and hickory thence due South 146 poles to the bald hill cornering on a post [?] oak thence due East 81 poles to corner between said Hawkins and Sewell cornering on an Elm hickory and blue ash, thence north two degrees West ____ running to a double hickory thence north nine degrees East to a double Elm thence north one degree East to the out boundary to the Beginning. Witnesseth that the said Mathias Lambert and Elizabeth his wife for and in consideration of eight dollars and 55 cents in specie to them in hand paid the receipt whereof they do hereby acknowledge hath granted, bargained and sold and by these presents do grant, bargain, and sell unto the said Grissom Lee his heirs and asigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land containing two acres 3 roods and 16 poles lying and being in the County of Madison on the waters of the Walnut Meadow fork of Paint Lick Creek being part of a survey of 600 acres granted to Michael Burge ____ and bounded as followeth to wit: Beginning at a ____ elm South East corner to Wm Patton's survey of 200 acres thence with George Lambert's line S 35 degrees W 40 = poles to a white oak and buckeye on said Lambert's line thence a new line N 881/2 East 28 poles to a hackberry on Michael Burge's old line thence N 3 = W with said line 32 poles to the beginning. To have and to hold the said tract of land with its appurtenances to the said Grissom Lee his heirs and asigns forever and the said Matthias Lambert and Elizabeth his wife for themselves their heirs, executors, and admrs to warrant and forever defend the said tract of land with its appurtenances to the said Grissom Lee his heirs and asigns against the claim of all and every person or persons whatever. In testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hands and seals the day and year first above written.
