FREEMAN was born Oct. 17, 1846. The death angel visited his home on Cotter Avenue and took him home to heaven Oct. 12, 1931. He was 85 years, 11 months and 25 days old. Mr. FREEMAN served in the Union Army in the Civil War and received an honorable discharge. He was married to Mary Jane ADKINS, Sept. 17, 1867, and to this union were born five children, three of whom preceded him to the great beyond. Two, L.L. and Charley T. survive him. After his first wife*,s death, he was married to Docie (Docia) GRIDER (LONG) Nov. 3, 1898, and to this union was born one child, Nannie L. HEATH (Freeman) who survives him. Mrs. FREEMAN was faithful to him until the very last, and all was done for him that loving hands could do for anyone. Mr. FREEMAN joined the Baptist Church in his young manhood, and became a member of the Church of God about nine years ago. Brother FREEMAN lived a devoted Christian life, was a great lover of the Sabbath day, and loved to attend church and Sunday School. He had many friends. He was often heard praying and praising the Lord right on up until death came for him. We have every reason to believe that Brother FREEMAN is at rest and he will be missed in the Church, in the community, and by all who knew him. His remains were laid to rest in the Somerset Cemetery to await the coming of Jesus. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Starling SMITH, his pastor, at the Church of God on Cotter Avenue of this city.
