WHAT THE OTHERS SAY O H POLLARD The candidacy of our fellow townsman, Judge O. H. Pollard, is meeting with State wide endorsement. We are offering to the Democrats of the State a man worthy of the honor and with the ability to ably dicharge the duties of the office of Attorney General.-Breathitt County News(Republican) IRRESISTIBLE-IRREPRESSIBLE. Judge O. H. Pollard, of Jackson, has announceed his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for the office of Attorney General of Kentucky. Judge Pollard is a native of Henry county and is a lawyer of exceptional ability. He is a member of the Kentucky State Bar Association. Last year he was Grand Chancellor of the Grand Lodge of Knights of Pythias.-Carrolton News. It is not a very delectable task to bring to book the authorities about such a matter; but it is a crying shame the way toilet rooms at the court house are being taken care of! A self-respecting hog would hold its nose and flee from it. Yet this addition to the court house cost taxpayers more than six hundred dollars, and the county pays the jailer, or did for awhile, an extra salary of twelve dollars and a half plunks per month for neglecting this. I would suggest to the Fiscal Court that they thoroughly renovate and repair this place, then select the biggest prisoner in the jail and make a 'trusty" of him, arm him with a well tested base ball bat and discretionary powers to use it on the bipeds who haven't sufficient sense of decency to use this room rightly. Gentlemen of the Fiscal Court, do something to remedy this, or tear it down and remove it. AND THAT reminds me, Quite a number of the dollars of the people's money has been worse than wasted in a vain effort to make a court house out of an inadequate shell. Breathitt is a rich county and its riches will be multiplied in the next few years. The revenues of the county are ample, and I believe that a big majority of the taxpayers would be glad to see the old fourteenth century court house removed and a modern, creditable building erected. The cry of those in power is that the people would groan under the burden. Apply the pruning knife to some of the things that now deplete the treasury. Funeral services over the body of the Rev. Wiliam A. Whitsitt were held on January 22, at Richmond,Ky., where the noted Kentuckian passed away. Dr. Whitsitt died at Richmond where he had been professor of moral philosophy for the past ten years, after a short illness. He was 69 and had held many posts of honor and dignity in the Baptist Church during his lifetime. #5 End of ky-footsteps-digest V00 #191 ********************************************************************** USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
