Wood and Alice M.Massie, of Mason County. ______ Moses Love, colored, has shown us an ear of corn, or rather a cluster of ears about six inches in length, the center and larger ear being surrounded by fourteen smaller ones. Aberdeen Clippings: Perry Travis, colored, who died last Saturday morning, was buried under the auspices of the U.B.F.'s Sunday morning. James Small and Miss Anna Cotton, two prominent young people of this burg, will wed to-morrow morning. They say the General Ed Hall, engineer at the flour mill, will be married tonight. Mrs. Thomas Cooper is very ill. The Tan yard was shut down Monday and Tuesday for repairs. Personals Miss Ida Walton, of Covington, is visiting Mr. and Mrs. Tom Tyler, at Germantown. Miss Hattie Hamilton and children, of Dallas, TX are visiting relatives in the Fifth ward. Mr. and Mrs. James Smith returned home from Chicago, where they have been visiting their daughter, Mrs. John D. Tash. Mr. and Mrs. Frank W. Armstrong, of Hillsboro, Ohio, arrived Saturday evening to attend the marriage of Miss Bessie Morgan to their nephew, Frank Armstrong Mannen of Saint Paul, MN. William Johnson was crushed to death by a log rolling over him, a few miles above Manchester last Saturday. He leave a wife and two children in destitute circumstances. Miss Belle Porter, the little daughter of the late Ed Porter, died last Monday at the residence of her mother, on Sutton Street of consumption. She was about sixteen years of age, and had been ill but a few days. The remains of Sammie Riley, whose death was noticed Saturday, were interred yesterday afternoon, after funeral services at his home. There was a large attendance of the friends and relatives of the parents and of the little companions of the deceased. The marriage of Miss Blanche Black to Isaac Dillard Cooper, both of Covington, is announced to take place October 5. The bride is a daughter of the lamented Villie Black. The marriage of Miss Alice Massie to Mr. Authur Wood took place Sunday afternoon at Aberdeen, "Squire Massie Beasley officiating. The couple reside at Washington, the bride being the daughter of Mrs. Sue Massie and the groom a son of the late Dr. Authur Wood. James H. Crawford and wife have sold and conveyed to G. M. Tolle, of Lewis County, a small lot of ground on Cabin Creek for $300. Elzie Payton and wife have sold and conveyed to George S. Grover about twenty-five acres of land near Sardis, for $1,538.24. The funeral of Miss Belle Perry Porter, whose death is noticed elsewhere, will take place this afternoon at half-past two o'clock, at the Christian Church. Elder W. S. Priest will conduct the services. Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Riley have the sympathy of the public in the loss of their bright and interesting little son, S. S. Riley, Jr., whose death occurred Friday evening at half past 6 o'clock. The funeral took place Sunday afternoon at the 2 o'clock from the family residence on West Second street, service by Elder W. s. Skillman, Sr., aged about seventy-five years, and Mrs. Ephraim Horton, aged about sixty years, were married. This was the second marriage of the bride and fourth marriage of the groom. __________ Rigngold Lodge No. 27, IOOF, has elected the following delegates to represent to the lodge in the annual session of the Grand Lodge of the State to be held at Louisville, October 26th: Dr. T. H. N. Smith and Messrs George Schwartz and W. H. Ryder. R. M. Wall, who was badly injured in a wreck on the Chesapeake on the Ohio Railroad last spring, has sued the company for damages. He has recovered, but an exchange says he will carry the marks as long as he lives, to say nothing of the weeks of suffering he endured. _________ Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Lynch received news last night of the death of their nephew, Frankie Gates, aged ten years, at Baltimore a few days ago. An exchange of that city says: "He was the youngest child of Frances M. Gates, who was in inspector at the custom house for over twenty years. Frankie, with some other boys, went to Druid Hill Park on Thursday last, and ate some acorns which he picked up there. The tannic acid in the acorns acted as a powerful astringent, and caused intestinal trouble, which resulted in death, after intense suffering."
