John Burns, son of the late Larry and Margarete Anna WHALEY Burns, died at his home on Kentontown pike Monday afternoon at 3 o'clock of a heart attack. He had been in ill health for several years. He was aged 71 years. Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, conducted by Rev. STEVENS, Pastor of the county Methodist Churches. Interment in Mt Olivet Cemetery, in charge of Kain and Sheeler. Mr. BURNS was thrice married, his first wife being a Miss WOODWARD of Bracken county, who died in 1904. His second wife was Miss Ida NICHOLS, who died a number of years ago. He later married Miss Eddie BAKER, who survives with one daughter, Mrs. LINVILE. Mrs. Lucy FOOKS TOOMEY, wife of Mr. Charles TOOMEY of Kentontown, died in Booth Hospital, Covington at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning following an operation performed last Saturday for gallstones. Funeral services will be held this Thursday afternoon at 2 o'clock at Kentontown Christian Church, conducted by Rev. BREEM, with interment following in Kentontown Cemetery in charge of Kain and Sheeler. She was a daughter of the late Geo. And Nanny FOOKS of Kentontown and was aged about 65 years. She was first married to Dudley MILLER, who passed away. Her second husband was the late Charles BURNS, to which union three sons survive, namely George Burns and Eugene Burns of Harrison county, and Stanley Burns of this county. Her last husband, Mr. Toomey, also survives, together with one sister, Mrs. William FRENCH, of Kentontown and two brothers, Sid Fooks of Cynthaniana, and a number of grandchildren. Mrs. Toomey had been in ill health for some time. Fields today set Friday, May 28, 1926, as the day of execution for the following five men, all convicted of murder, their sentences being affirmed by the court of appeals. George Bolin, Breathitt county, convicted in the Breathitt circuit court for murder, July 31, 1923. His sentence was affirmed by the court of appeals Jan 16, 1925. Ed Lake, Jefferson county, convicted in Jefferson circuit court, November, 1923; sentence affirmed by court of appeals June 19, 1925. John Baker, Jefferson county, convicted in Jefferson circuit court January 17, 1925. His sentence was affirmed by the court of appeals October 13, 1925. Elisha Sloan, Perry county, convicted in Perry circuit court, Feb. 26, 1925. His sentence was affirmed by the court of appeals Nov. 20, 1925. Elmer Owens, alias Melvin Owens, Fayette county, convicted in Fayette circuit court March 2, 1925. Sentence affirmed by court of appeals Nov 10, 1925.
