The dinner was in honor of the birthday of both and of the son's leaving Thursday, April 25 for the US Army. Those present for the occasion were Mr. & Mrs. Al Kranich, Robin & Joy of Mt. Vernon, Indiana; Mr. & Mrs. Kelly Owens and son George, Mr. & Mrs. Alden Anderson, Debbie and Gary and Mr. & Mrs. Joe Schnee and daughter Vicki all of Evansville; Mr. & Mrs. Johnny Back, Sharon and Doug, Mr. & Mrs. Billy Owen, Mr. & Mrs. James DeMoss and daughter Marie, all of Dekoven and Mr. & Mrs. Marlin Hazel of Morganfield. Owens was one of eighteen in his company to receive an E-2 grage following his graduation from basic traning at Ft. Campbell, recently. Pvt Owens, now in traning for carpentry at Ft. Leonard Wood, Mo, has also been awarded a medal for markmanship. A graduate of Union County High, Owens before he entered service was employee of the Pittsburgh Midway Coal Company's Dekoven Mines. He is the son of Mr. & Mrs. Hubbie Owens and is married to the former Diane Back. {News Article} Host Supper; Social Hour Mrs. Hubbie Owens entertained with a supper and social hour last Tuesday night honoring her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Diane Owens. Mrs. Owens left by plane Sunday morning from Evansville to join her husband Sp/4 William E. Owens in Nellinger, Germany. Those attending were besides the hostess; Mr. Owens, Mr. & Mrs. John Back, Sharon and Danny, Mr. & Mrs. Jimmie DeMoss and Maria for supper. Others who visited later were Mr. & Mrs. Mason Certain and Bonnie, Mrs. Wilbert Certain, Mrs. Joe Omer, Betty Certain and Mike DeMoss. Diane was remembered with several going away gifts. {News Article} Mr. & Mrs. Hubbie Owens and Mr. & Mrs. Jimmie DeMoss and Maria accompanied Mrs. Diane Owens to Evansville Sunday morning where she left by plane to join her husband, Spec/4 William E. Owens in Germany.
