E. Chambers, one of our most beloved citizens died last Thursday night as the result of a stroke of apoplexy several days before. He was 62 and had been employed in the revenue service. The funeral services were conducted last Sunday by Rev. Milo Atkinson at the Christian Church, which was not large enough to accommodate the concourse of friends who assembled to pay their respects to the departed. The bereaved family has the sympathy of a host of friends." The Enquirer, Cincinnati, Saturday, October 9, 1909 page 19: A. E. Chambers, Dead Word was received yesterday of the death of A. E. Chambers a Government gauger, at his home in Petersburg, Ky., after a short illness. Mr. Chambers was well known in Covington and was the father of Mrs. Rev. Milo Atkinson, of West Fourth street. He was appointed gauger by President Cleveland during his first administration. Mr. Chambers death makes the tenth in the Revenue Service in this district since the demise of Collector George Lieberth in 1908. Major Scott served his country in the War of 1812. Covington Journal, dated 02 November 1861, page 2: DIED At his residence, near Union, Boone county, Ky., on the 18th of October, Major Chasteen Scott, in the 76th year of his age. T. Grubbs, 1957, Boone Co Kentucky Times Star newspaper, dated 13 December 1957, page 8A: Kentucky Mourns I. T. Grubbs Dies; Former Chemist I. T. Grubbs, formerly active in Masonic affairs in Northern Kentucky, has died at St. Petersburg, Fla. Mr. Grubbs, 81 was a former resident of Covington. He was the father of Wallace K. Grubbs of the Chambers and Grubbs funeral home, Walton. The elder Grubbs was a chemist for the Perry and Derrick Paint Co., Dayton, for 25 years prior to his retirement when he moved to Florida. He remained active despite his years until death which came unexpectedly. He was a member of Indra Conistory Scottish Rite, White Shrine Temple No. 10, and was a past patron of Rosebud Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, Covington. He was a member of First Christian Church, St. Petersburg. Also surviving him are his widow, Mrs. Iola Grubbs; a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Chapman, Covington; two sisters, Mrs. H. R Morris, Covington, and Mrs. Pearl Fink, Walton; a brother, J. J. Grubbs, Coral Gables, Fla.; a step daughter, Mrs. Naomi Morris, St. Petersburg; seven grandchildren and six great-grand- children.SERVICES will be held Monday at 1:30 p. m. at the Chambers and Grubbs funeral home, Walton. Burial will follow in Highland Cemetery, Ft. Mitchell. Mrs. Chambers died Tuesday afternoon at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Grant Matthews, with whom she made her home, just 21 years to the day her husband, Alfred E. Chambers, died. C. Collins, Esq. The death of his wife, which occurred two years ago was a terrible shock to Mr. Cleveland. It impaired his health which has been failing ever since.Mr. Cleveland was born, reared and spent all the days of his life in Kenton county. Few men of the county were better known or more highly esteemed. No blot stains the record of his long life. CLEVELAND DEAD: Mrs. Henrietta Esther Cleveland, 90, died last night at her home, 33 East Fourth st., Newport, where she resided with her niece, Mrs. L. Hommedieu. She was a member of one of Kentucky's oldest and wealthiest families, being the granddaughter of Major Jacob Fowler, a United States civil engineer, and of Esther Devee Fowler, who at one time owned a large part of Covington, part of it being the sites on which the St. Mary's Cathedral and St. Elizabeth Hospital now stand. Mrs. Cleveland was a devoted Catholic and was the organizer of the Rosary Society and the Martha and Mary Society, of which she was President for years. The funeral will take place from St. Mary's Cathedral tomorrow morning at 9 o'clock. The Kentucky Post, dated 13 May 1907, page 8: Woman Settler of Covington Is Dead Mrs. Henrietta Esther Cleveland, 90, probably the oldest resident of Covington, died at her home, 33 East Fourth st. Sunday. She organized the Rosary Society and the Martha and Mary Society, being President of both for years. Mrs. Cleveland's parents at one time owned almost the entire land upon which Covington now stands. The Kentucky Post, dated 15 May 1907, page 2: DEATHS The funeral of Henrietta Esther Cleveland was held yesterday at St. Mary's Cathedral, Rev. Father Brossart and Fathers O'Dwyer and Hillenmeyer officiating. The pallbearers were Messrs. John Dillion, William A. Bryne, Dr. J. A. Cassidy, Dr. Wm. F. Reilly. The funeral of Cleveland Scott took place Wednesday morning from the First Baptist Church, Covington. The funeral services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. C. C. Jones, assisted by Rev. Jon. Bennie, pastor of Madison Avenue, Presbyterian Church. Mr. Scott died suddenly at the home of his daughter, Mrs. C. R. Reading, at Waukegan, ILL. He was born in Kenton County, in 1820, and spent the most of his life in Covington. In 1842, he married Miss Elmira Collins, a sister of D. C. and Samuel Collins, of Crescent Springs, and Mrs. Whiton Wilson, pioneer residents of Kenton. Scott leaves a widow and six children; they are Mrs. A. E. Chambers, of Petersburg, Ky.; Mrs. W. S. Orr, of Covington; Mrs. L. R. Senior, Toronto, Ont.,; Mrs. C. R. Reading, Waukegan, ILL., and Mrs. E. F.
