ky-footsteps Sunday, June 16 Volume 02 : Issue 36 Today's Topics: # 1 [KYF] OBIT: Watkins, 1903, Whitley Co _____________________________X-Message: #1 ------------------------------------------------------------ Submitted by E-mail Registry submitter: Betty Neu Date: Sunday, June 16, 2002 4:05 PM Subject: [KYF] OBIT: Watkins, 1903, Whitley Co ------------------------------------------------------------ Obit - Everett Edward Watkins - Whitley Co, KY - 1903 - From records of Circuit Court Clerk's office - Whitley Co. - 7/9/1903 "Ev" as he was called was an honest, faithful, devoted husband and father. Ever watchful of the pleasures, comforts, harmonious environments of his devoted wife and children, rendering his home in fact, a place of love and kindness, which he at all times sought and enjoyed. As a citizen, he was in all the sense of the term, a patriot. He loved his home and fireside. He loved his neighbors and associates with that candid fervor that he never deserted anyone in distress, and at no time, when his kindly and ever open heart could aid in the alleviation of the want of his fellow men, he was always found doing more than his part. As an officer, Clerk of the Whitley Circuit Court, and Postmaster at Williamsburg, he performed the duties of the office with that dignity, integrity, and uniform courtesy to all that merits the memorium we now present as a testimonial of his true and noble worth, worth of our emulation and respect and as our tribute to his memory and our offer of condolence to his loving wife, children and relatives, we recommend that this memorium be entered at length on the order book of the Whitley Circuit Court. That a copy be presented to his family, and that the same be presented to the press of Whitley County for publication. And as a further mark of respect, we recommend that all of the County Offices be closed on Saturday, July 11th, 1903, and that the Bar and County Officers meet at the Court House and attend the funeral as a body.
