He was a native of Robertson County and the son of the late Charles and Lucy FOOKS Burns. Mr. Burns is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Doris WHALEN, Mrs. Violet BARNES and Mrs. Annie ISHMAEL of New Richmond, Ohio. He was the brother of Mr. Eugene Burns of Bellvue, Ky. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted 2 p.m. Friday Feb. 10, 1984 at the Drake Funeral Home by Pastor Kevin MEALER with burial in Kentontown Cemetery. Pallbearers: Paul Burns, Tony Ishmael, Eddie Whalen, Ernie Barnes, Ray Boyd Fookes, George Newton Fookes, Harold DRYDEN and Kenneth Burns. Jd _____________________________X-Message: #2 ------------------------------------------------------------- Submitted by E-mail Registry submittor Jeannie Dalrymple Date: Saturday, August 10, 2002 11:56 AM Subject: [KYF] OBITS: MONSON, Elijah 1911, Harrison Co -------------------------------------------------------------- With the courtesy of the "DEMOCRAT" Cynthiana, Harrison Co., KY LOG CABIN 14 July 1911 Monson Mr. Elijah MONSON, a prominent and highly regarded farmer, died of the infirmities of old age at his home seven miles east of Cynthiana last Friday afternoon July 7 in his eighty sixth year He was born in Bourbon County on December 19, 1825 and married Susan TURLEY in Nicholas county on March 4, 1858, his wife surviving him. He has been a member of the Indian Creek Baptist Chruch for a number of years, and was a splendid elder whom all regarded highly. He was the head of a prominent family, his sons and daughters being among our best people. The serviving children are: Mesars. I.N. and James I. Monson, Mrs. J. D. EVANS, Mrs. B.W. Monson, Mrs. Lafe MAFFETT, and Mrs. R.F. SCOTT, all residents of this county; Mrs. Edwin GAFFIN, of Nicholas County; and Miss Bessie Monson of Birmingham, Alabama. The funeral seervices were held at the residence Sunday afternoon, comducted by Rev. S.H. BURGESS, and the burial occurred at Battle Grove Cememtery. The pall bearers were James Monson, Lark Monson, Thomas JONES, R. W. RANKIN, J.B. ENDICOTT, Dr. W. F. PHILLIPS,, J.W. SMITH and H.F. Maffett. (this is a bit hard to read, especially the numbers. Jan. 6, 1927 MRS ISAAC LANGLEY PASES AWAY WEDNESDAY Mrs. Aaura Langley, wife of Isaac Langley, died at her home on Ceday Wednesday morning after a protracted illness aged about 70 years. The funeral services will be held at the Kentontown Christian Church Friday morning. Interment in the Kentontown Cemetery. Deceased was the youngest daughter of the late Hiram and Hulday KENTON WHALEY, Pioneer citizens of this section. Besides her husband, she is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ann BURNS, one brother, H. W. Whaley, both of this county. She was a good Christian woman, and her friends embraced all who knew her. The funeral services of Mrs. Isaac Langley will be held at the Kentontown Christian Church on Friday afternoon, conducted my Rev. O.J. POLLY. Deceased is survived by two sisters instead of the one sister, as stated above, Mrs. Lizzie LINVILLE, of Harrison County, widow of the late Hiram T. Linville, being the other surviving sister. Linville, 85, died at 7:30 p.m. at the Maysville Extended Care Facility. She was a housewife and the widow of Sherwood Linville. Mrs. Linville was born in Robertson County on Dec. 4, 1893, to the late Hiram Wesley and Louella COLLINS WHALEY. She was a member of the Mt. Olivet United Methodist Church. Surviving are one sister, Mrs. Maymie Linville of Mt. Olivet, Mrs. Bethel CANTRELL of Alexndria, Kentucky, whom Mrs. Linville raised and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded indeath by three brothers, Emmitt Whaley, Claude Whaley and Sam Whaley and three sisters, Grace CLEAVER, Stella ROBERTSON and Rose BURKE. Services were held at the Robertson County Funeral Home Friday, Jan 13, at 2 p.m.. Burial was in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
