Rogers died of paralysis at 12 o'clock Saturday night at his home in Clifton. He was stricken with paralysis nearly two years ago and had been confined to his home ever since and part of the time to his bed. Dr. Rodgers was born in Bourbon County. He was in the 73d year of his age and had been practicing medicine for over fifty years. He has been at Clifton for about twenty-eight years. He was a self sacrificing and assiduous in the practice of his profession and imperiled, if he did not sacrifice, his life in ministering to the suffering. He was a kind and upright man and had been a professing Christian for a number of years. He was a member of the old school Baptist church Alton. Dr. Rodgers is survived by a wife, who has long been an invalid, two daughter and a son. Dr. G. H. Rout conducted funeral services over the remains of the deceased on Tuesday morning at 10 o'clock." Lester S. Rodgers died Monday morning at 5:50 O'Clock in the Veteran's Hospital in Montgomery following a short illness. Mr. Rodgers, son of the late John Fleming Rodgers and Sarah Isabel Williams Rodgers, was born September 30, 1887, and spent most of his life in Kentucky. He had resided in Prattville for more than 20 years and was an employee of Continental Gin Company. He was a member of the Elks Club and the VFW in Montgomery, and a member of the First Presbyterian Church(in Prattville) and the American Legion. Surviving are the widow Mrs. Maude Janet (White) Rodgers; a son, John Wm. Rodgers of Prattville, a daughter; Mrs. F. C. Edelen (Mdn. name: Eliz. Carolina Rodgers), Dallas, Texas, and a sister; Mrs. T. O. Blackerby of Naugatuck, Conn.. Five grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning, November 24th, at 10 O'clock from the residence on Wetumpka Street with Rev. C. Lewis Morrison officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery with Spigener Funeral Home of Clanton in charge of arrangements. Active pallbearers were Jasper Buckner, Warren Howell, Gordon Vinson, J. R. Dawson, Jimmy Parrish, and Howard Anderson. Members of the American Legion and P. L. Smith, C. G. Smith, G. C. Starcher, Gardner Stewart, Maury McWilliams, and F. L. Gaddis sered as honorary pallbearers.
