Daugherty, 2001, Boyle County, KY ------------------------------------------------------------ From the Danville Advocate Messenger, 18 Nov 2001 Jerry S. Daugherty Jr., 79, of Baughman Avenue died Wednesday. Born Dec. 20, 1921, in Boyle County, he was the son of the late Jerry S. and Hettie White Daugherty. He was a partner with his sons in Daugherty's Ashland Service Station and Daugherty's Wrecker Service. He was a former bus driver for the Boyle County school system and belonged to Lexington Avenue Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife, Alma Case Daugherty; two sons, Ronnie C. Daugherty and Kenneth A. Daugherty, both of Danville; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home. He died Sunday at University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington. Born June 6, 1959, in Danville, he was the son of George W. Davis of Ohio and Louise Herring Davis of Danville. Born Sept. 5, 1947, in Scranton, Pa., he was the son of the late George and Beulah Mae Hogue Diehl. He was a material handler for R.R. Donnelley & Sons Co. He served 21 years in the Marine Corps and retired as a master sergeant. He had served during the Vietnam War and was the recipient of the Purple Heart, Presidential Unit Citation and several other medals and awards. He was a member of Out Reach Baptist Church and Disabled American Veterans, Marine Corps League and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Survivors include his wife, Patricia A. Garey Diehl; a stepdaughter, Cheryl Higgins of Danville; two brothers, Kevin Pittack of Pennsylvania and William Diehl of New Jersey; two sisters, Betty Langan of Scranton, Pa., and Georgana Diehl; and two grandchildren. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Stith Funeral Home. Burial will be in Camp Nelson National Cemetery. Visitation is after 5 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday at Stith Funeral Home.
