"Tommy" Ruggles, 85, of Danville, formerly of Willisburg, died Nov. 15 in Washington County. Born March 4, 1916, in Lewis County, he was a son of the late Thomas M. and Minnie Garrett Ruggles. He was a farmer and a retired U.S. Department of Agriculture tobacco inspector, a position he held for 26 years. He was former owner and operator of Rolling Acres Shooting Preserve in Willisburg. He also was a member of Willisburg Christian Church and a Kentucky Colonel. Survivors include his wife, Wanda Coulter Ruggles; four sons, Dean Ruggles, Aubrey Ruggles and Larry Ruggles, all of Tollesboro, and Douglas Ruggles of Danville; two daughters, Carol Doyle of Tollesboro and Bonnie Walters of Sharpsburg; three stepdaughters, Brenda Scrogham of Willisburg, Freida Bishop of Frankfort and Pat Maring of Tallahassee, Fla.; a stepson, Ted Gillis of Bardstown; a brother, Joseph Ruggles of Jackson, Ohio; a sister, Christine McCord of Lexington; 21 grand- children; 34 great-grandchildren; nine step grandchildren; and 15 step great-grandchildren. Services were Nov. 19 at Barbour & Son Funeral Home by the Rev. Robert Allen. Born July 2, 1928, in Harlan County, he was a son of the late Charles T. and Mary Collinsworth Robbins. He was an exterminator, a Baptist and an Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Doris Mooney Robbins; a daughter, Pharanda C. Finley of Marengo, Ind.; a brother, Leslie Robbins of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters, Dyancia Sims of Calloway, Neb., and Helen Robbins of Lovington, N.M.; two grandchildren; and two great- grandchildren. Services will be noon Wednesday at Morris and Hislope Funeral Home by David Carr. She was a secretary for Inter-County Energy and a member of First Christian Church. Survivors include her husband, Eugene McCowan; a daughter, Terry Jane Gilbert of Danville; a son, Kevin T. Rye of Danville; a stepdaughter, Deborah McCowan of Danville; a sister, Carol Ann Stone of Winchester; a brother, Tom Muncie of Winchester; and five grandchildren. Born Jan. 18, 1917, in Honaker, Va., he was the son of the late Charles and Corrie Johnson Wallace. He was a former teacher for the Veterans Administration and a retired clerk for Durham Hardware. He was a graduate of Parksville High School and the University of Kentucky. He also was a member of Franklin Lodge 28 F&AM where he had served as secretary for more than 25 years, all York Rite bodies, Eastern Star and Knights of Pythias. He was a member and elder of the former Caldwell Presbyterian Church and was an Army veteran of World War II. Survivors include a brother, Roy Wallace of Stanford. Graveside services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Bellevue Cemetery by the Rev. Ivan Shelburne. Lester Nash, 72, of Proctor Street died today at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center. Born Sept. 14, 1929, in Maceo, he was the son of the late Sidney C. and Louellen Barnet Nash. He was a Baptist minister for 47 years and had been pastor of several Baptist churches, including Junction City First Baptist Church. He also served as interim pastor at several churches after his retirement. He served on the executive board of the Southern Baptist Convention and the executive board of the Kentucky Baptist Convention. He attended Tennessee Temple Seminary. Survivors include his wife, Idella Jennings Nash; four daughters, Threasha Hendricks of Norfolk, Va., Deanna Whittamore of Estero, Fla., Gina Melton of Danville and Belinda J. Birdsey of Norfolk, Va.; a son, Jeffrey Nash of Somerset; three sisters, Kathrine Crawford and Virginia Miller, both of Owensboro, and Sidney Wedding of St. Louis, Mo.; a brother, Clarence Nash of Columbus, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
