Dr. Creech, a representative of the Bureau of Maternal and Child Welfare of the State Department of Health, will be present at the meeting to instruct and advise the women in attendance, and will show motion pictures. The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. and all women, practicing midwifery in the county, and all those who expect to continue to do so, are requested to attend. Also bags equipped as for delivery are to be brought in for inspection at that time. Women performing the duties of a midwife should have and should welcome qualified supervision, and should be urged to avail themselves of this opportunity to learn and to become better prepared to carry on their services in their community. He was in the employ of the Packard Coal Company for 35 years. Survivors include a son, Pascal Preston; two nephews, Theodore Wallace and Raymond Wallace; a niece, Mabel Wallace. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Packard Baptist Church, with Rev. Preston Gordon conducting. Threlkeld Date: 24 Jun 2003 Subject: [KYF] OBIT: Jones, 1954, Lewis Co ------------------------------------------------------------ VANCEBURG - Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday for Fleming Jones, 85, of West Carrollton, former Lewis County, Ky., resident, who died Saturday at 12:30 p.m. at his home. Mr. Jones, who had been in poor health for several years, suffered a stroke Wednesday. He was born Jan. 30, 1869, the son of Squire and Jane Smith Jones. He had been a resident of Lewis County until moving to West Carrollton in December, 1953. At one time he was a lumber dealer and road contractor and later became a livestock dealer and farmer until his retirement. He was an active member of the Walnut Grove Methodist Church at Kinniconick, Lewis County, Ky. He was the last member of a large family. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Leona Pierce Jones and one son, Lawrence Jones. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lucena Blankenship, 721 Second St., Mrs. Grace Burriss of Dayton and Mrs. Letha Thomas of Maysville; four sons, Ollie Jones, 950 Second St., Robert, Orville and Elmer of West Carrollton; 26 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. The body was moved from Stuart Funeral Home in West Carrollton to Plummer Funeral Home in Vanceburg. Funeral services will be held at Walnut Grove Church Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Black Oak Cemetery. Rev. H. L. Shumway will officiate.
