"Beloved Lady Dies After Long Illness At Home. Mrs. Queen Howard died at her home on Cleveland Avenue last Friday morning after a lingering illness which absolutely refused to yield to treatment. "She was sixty eight yers of age, a devout member of the Christian church, and a lady whose purity of life caused her to be loved by all who came under her influence. "She was a native of the Celina section, in Tennessee, but she sent much of her early life in and around Summer Shade, where her husband, the late Dr. Tom Howard died 38 years ago, from overwork. She was left with five children, all of whom survive. They are Dr. C. C. Howard, the well known and popular surgeon of this place, Miss Bess Howard, County Clerk of Barren County, Mrs. Ernest Bryant, Mr. Lloyd Howard, all of this place and Mr. Oakley Howard of Summer Shade. "Before her marriage she was Miss Queen Langford, and is the last of her family to pass on. "She not only left a beautiful name but a great legacy in splendid life she left the world. "Funeral services were held in the Christian church here Saturday afternoon, at one o'clock, by Revs. Alderson, Grider and Thomas, in the presence of an audience which taxed the capacity of the building. "At 2:30 o'clock services were held in the Christian church at Summer Shade, at the request of her numerous friends in that section, who wanted to show their respect for her. The church being crowded. The interment was in the Summer Shade cemetery, beside the remains of her late husband. Source: Unknown and undated Glasgow (KY) newspaper, found in an old scrapbook.
