He was born Jan. 3, 1917, at Mount Herman, KY., to William Lewis and Maye Lyons Cooksey. Both are deceased. Survivors include a son, Winfred Lee of Hot Springs, AR; two daughters, Betty French and Sue Hatt, both of Waynetown, IN; three stepdaughters, Francis Taylor and Nikki Cox, both of Jeffersonville, IN and Carol Stanley, Kentucky; and a stepson, Tom Baker, Kentucky; two sisters, Margaret Cooksey, Crawfordsville and Nina Kinslow, Frankfort, IN. A stepmother, Mildred Cooksey, Austin, KY; two half sisters, Jean Hawey, Odell, IN and Linda Palin, Kentucky and a stepbrother, Roger Cooksey, Jeffersonville, IN also survive. He had four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Two sisters, Angie Paugh and Loureide Kinslow, a brother Leroyce and a stepbrother, Robert are deceased. Mr. Cooksey served in the Navy from 1944-46, attended Love Outreach Church and was an American Legion member. He attended Kentucky schools. Funeral services are scheduled 2 p.m. Monday in Hunt & Son Funeral Home, Crawfordsville, with Pastor Rob Hughes officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Grant Avenue Cemetery in Crawfordsville. Friends may call two hours prior to services Monday.
