He was the son of Henry and Nora Bunch Romines. Survivors include his wife, Sue Rush Romines; three sons, Robert Romines of Campbellsville, John Romines of Franklin, Ind., and Steven Romines of Louisville; two sisters, Joyce Melson of Danville and Llewellyn Rottman of Midlothian, Va.; and nine grandchildren. Born May 28, 1914, in Elk Valley, Tenn., she was the daughter of the late M.L. and Almeda Gipson Baird. She was a homemaker, an employee of Kentucky State Hospital, and retired from Oakwood in Somerset. She was a member of Mount Salem Baptist Church and the widow of James Cleo Smith. Survivors include three sons, Wendell Smith, Larry Smith and Jerry D. Smith, all of Mount Salem; a daughter, Sue C. Franklin of Stanford; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.L. Pruitt Funeral Home by Mike Mullins and Tim Cochran. Burial will be in Hustonville Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Bruce, Kevin, Keith and Brian Smith, Greg and Shawn Gaines, and Wayne and Shane Franklin. He was a steel mill manager and an Army veteran of the Vietnam war. Survivors include his wife, Janice L. Bates; a son, Thomas J. Bates of San Diego, Calif.; a daughter, Lisa E.
