"AT A DANCE given near Euclid, in Hart county, last Saturday night Henry Mathis shot Tom Mathis in the back, killing him instantly, and was instantly killed himself by some one shooting him. Alvin Mathis, a son of Henry Mathis, was also perhaps fatally shot. He is the young man who recently acquired notoriety by running away with the pretty daughter of Fielding Beams, of Hart county, but who was arrested in Louisville and the marriage prevented. Henry and Tom Mathis were not related. "The following letter from Conway, Arkansas, appeared in the Hart County Record of last week: "In traveling through the West on the Oron Mountain Railroad, I noticed at near Pine Bluff, Ark., where a wreck had occurred and I inquired of the matter and was informed that there were four persons killed, three men and one woman, and learned that two of the men were from Hart county, Kentucky. The railroad company said that one of the men's name(s) was J. B. Mopin of Cave City, Ky., and the other's name was C. E. McInteer of Powder Mills, Ky. The R. R.officials said that they found papersin their pockets addressed to them at the above named postoffices, andthe company said that they had sent a notice to each office and as yet had not heard from anyone.
