"Mrs. Fannie Anderson, widow of Mr. Sam Anderson, died at the home of her son-in-law, Mr. H. N. Holman, near Beckton, on May the twenty-seventh. She was seventy-six years of age and had been sick sometime, suffering from infirmities due to old age. "Associated in the early life of the deceased is a bit of interesting pioneer history. With her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Carter, she migrated from Virginia to this section when a small child, and they settled near where Beaver Creek church is now located. Later, however, the family became dissatisfied and started West, as it was then called, to Texas, traveling through the country in wagons. "After reaching that state, they again became restless and started back this way. On their return trip, the mother became ill and died and somewhere between here and the Lone Star State her bodies lies in its grave to await the dawn of judgment day. "The family embraced a large number of children. During their travels one of the nights they stopped for camp, the sleepy little tots were lifted out of the wagon and were told to stand close by the wagon till the sleeping quarters were made ready. Suddenly one little girl was missed. The family circle was thrown into confusion but after searching a little ways down the road the little girl was overtaken walking along in her sleep and was brought safely home to shelter. "That little girl was named Addie and she was the late Mrs. Spot Redford. "The wandering family finally made their way back to the Beaver Creek church neighborhood, where they settled down, and where many descendants can now be found, and Mrs. Anderson is the last child of the family to die and be buried in the same community where she spent her entire life. "She was a fine woman and a noble character and to much can not be said in praise of her useful and active life of service and sacrifice for others andher deep devotion to the Master's cause. For fifty odd years, she had been a member of the Zion Methodist Church. "The deceased was twice married, the first time to Mr. Joe Emerson. To this union were born two children, the late Mrs.Mattie Kinslow and Mr. John Emerson who lives near Rocky Hill. Her second marriage was to Mr. Sam Anderson. Three daughters were born to this marriage. Only two survive, Mrs. John Wheeler, Bowling Green, and the present Mrs. H. N. Holman. One sister only remains of the large family, Mrs. John Harlow, of the Green Plot country. "The funeral was conducted the day following her death by Rev. A. D. Litchfield, and the burial occurred in the family burial ground on the old home place near Beaver Creek church."
