Now converted into a private residence, the owner told me a little of the history of the area and was very accurate in describing the locations of the 4 marked tombstones there. There is fence around the east, south and west sides, but none on the north - facing the highway - side. The cemetery is above the road level by at least 6 feet and until last week only accessible by scrambling up the hill. In September 2004 the Larue County Highway Department cut a path and laid gravel to give access to the Siberia Cemetery. To find this cemetery - US31W between Glendale and Sonora, KY to Highway 1517-Siberia Road; this will take you east, it only goes one direction. Continue 2.5 miles and on the south side you will see a rise completely overgrown with brush and numerous large oak trees. This is the Siberia Cemetery. Entering on the path immediately to the right are 2 marked graves, Leasor & Leaser; diagonally across the cemetery boundary to the south-east corner are the Tharp graves. There is significant underbrush and briar, plus some poison ivy; no other marked stones were found, but at least 12 fieldstone markers were discovered and there are probably more. small column style marker "Our Father" William M. LEASER - yes it is LEASER Oct 20, 1834 Jan 18, 1909 "A precious one from us is gone, A voice we loved is stilled, Ant tho the body slumbers here, The soul is safe in heaven" small column style marker "Our Mother" Lily W. LEASOR - yes it is LEASOR Mar 14, 1870 June 10, 1932 The local resident, a Mrs. Hill, stated that the Leasor-Leaser family would come and clean the area and leave flowers and stated that these 2 graves were husband and wife; grandparents to them. But Mrs. Hill did not know which spelling was correct. doublestone G. B. THARP 1837-1915 Martha A.
