Alexander also owns Lot 12 adjoining Lot 11: Larue Co Deed Bk 1, p 106-107: Alexander MERRIFIELD 12 Jun 1844: This Indenture made this twelvth day of June in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty four Between Alexander MERRIFIELD of the County of Nelson and State of Kentucky of the one part and John MERRIFIELD of the County and State aforesaid of the other part-Witnesseth that the said Alexander MERRIFIELD for and in consideration of the sum of four hundred dollars to me in hand by the John MERRIField before the signing sealing and delivery of these persents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged have this day granted, bargined and sold, by these presents do grant bargain sell alien and convey to the said John MERRIFIELD his heirs and assigns a certain parcel or a lot of ground in the town of Hodgenville, Larue County Kentucky and known in the plan of said town of Lot No 11 or so much of said lot as will make fifty one feet so as to include the house in which James Redman now lives, the line to commences at the corner of the house in which William Robinson now lives and then to run a straight line as the division fence is now standing also nine feet of lot no 12 and the same I purchased from Archibald Adams which lined parrallel on the east side and the full length of Lot No 11 making in the whole sixty feet fifty (50) feet fronting the public Square and nine and nine feet on the division line between No 11 and 12. Together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging To have and to hold the aforesaid bargained and sold land and premises together with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise appertaining to him the John MERRIFIELD his heirs and assigns to his or their only proper use benefit and behoof forever. And the said Alexander MERRIFIELD doth further convenant and agree to with the said John MERRIFIELD that he the grantor vested with the fee simple estate in the hereby bargained and sole premises and have good right and lawful authority to well and dispose of the same in the party fo the first part will warrant and defend the aforesaid land and premises from the claim of himself his heirs and assigns and all and every other person or persons claiming the same through him or by him or in any other way whatsoever to the said John MERRIFIELD his heirs and assigns forever In Testimony whereof the said Alexander MERRIFIELD hath hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year first above written.
