STONE Clerk fo the County Court for the County aforesaid do certify that on the 4th day of September 1851-- James REDMAN in my office acknowledged this deed to John MERRIFIELD to be his act and deed And Nancy Redman his wife was on the same day examined by me seperate and apart from her said husband and she declared that she had freely and willingly sealed and delivered said witing and wished not to retract it and acknowledged said writing again shown and explained to her to be her ace and deed and was willing the same my be recorded and that I have truly recoded the same this 20th day of November 1851 [James Redman married Nancy Walters 1 Jun 1826 Hardin Co] ******************************************************************* Larue Co Deed Bk 3, pg 227, 228 (pgs 229 & 330 missing) p 231: Heirs of Alexander MERRIFIELD 24 Dec 1851: This Indenture made this 24th day of December 1852 Between John MERRIFIELD & Elizabeth his wife of the County of Dallas and State of Texas of the one part and Fielding MERRIFIELD of Nelson County Kentucky of the other part Witnesseth that the parties of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of Two Hundred and fifty Dollars paid the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged both and do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey to the party of the second part a certain parcel or lot of ground in the TOWN OF HODGENVILLE Ky and Known on the plan of said Town as part of LOT 11or so much of the lot as will make fifty one feet-- Beginning at the Corner of William R. READ lot then to run a straight line as the division fence is now standing also nine feed of LOT NO 12 and the same that Alexander MERRIFIELD purchased from Archibald ADAMS which lies parallel on the east side and the full length of LOT NO 11-- making in the whole Sixty feet in front-- fifty one feet fronting the public Square and nine feed on the diviison line LOTS NOs 11 & 12- Also fifty two and a half feet to the Jail lot Thence with the Jail lot to the Street to Isaac CATLETTs line again To Have and To Hold the aforesaid Ground with all and singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging to the party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever And the parties of the first part Covenant and agree to and with the party of the second part that they will warrant and forever defend the title to the aforesaid Ground and premises from the claim of themselves their heirs and assigns and any other person or persons claiming the Same whatsoever In Testimony whereof the parties of the first have hereunto set their hands and seals on the day and date first above written. MERRIIFIELD 27 Sep 1878: This Indenture made and entered into hthis 27th day of Sepember 1878 between John W. MERRIFIELD and Julia An MERRIFIELd his wife of the County of Larue and State of Kentucky of the forst part and James B. REDMAN of the County and State aforesaid of the second part. WITNESSETH-- that for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred and thirty five dollars paid and to be paid as follows-- to wit fifty dollars in hand paid, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged and two promisory notes- the first note for forty dollars due and payable on the 27th day of September 1879 with interest at the note of six percent from this day until paid the second note for forty five dollars due and payable on the 27th day of September 1889 with interest at the note of six percent from this day until paid both notes bearing the date of this deed--- have this day bargained & sold and do by these presents bargain sell and convey unto the said James B, REDMAN his heirs and assigns forever all our right title and interest into a tract of land owned by George P. REDMAN dec'd Situated on KNOB CREEK in Larue County Containing about 300 acres and thirty acres or interest being one fifth of said tract of land which is undivided= we also bargain sell and convey unto the said REDMAN one fifth of one eighth interest in Dower land of Delila REDMAN dec'd situated on the WATERS OF KNOB CREEK in Larue County Kentucky. To Have and To Hold the interest into the two tracts of land hereby conveyed with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever with Covenant of General Warranty-- In testimony thereof- we have hereunto subscribed our names the day and date first above written-- A lein is hereby retained upon the land hereby conveyed for the payment of two notes aforesaid-- unpaid purchase money.
