Lot #12 is still owned by Alexander Merrifield LaRue Co Deed Bk 2, pg 73-75: Fielden and Abigail MERRIFIELD 23 Aug 1849: This Indenture made and entered into this 25th day of August one thousand eight hundred and forty nine by and between Fieldin MERRIFIELD and _________ of the first part and James I.B. Cahill of the second part-- Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of the sum of three hundred dollars in hand paid by the party of the second part the receipt where of is hereby acknowledged have and by these presents do grant bargain sell alien and releaseeoff (?) Convey and confrim unto the party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns a certain lot or parcel of land with all the appurtenances lying and being in the County of Larue in the TOWN OF HODGENVILLE and being one half of the lot now in the plan or map fo said town as NO 11 and being the West half of the same and fronting fifty two and one half feet on Main Street and in addition to the half of said lot the ground on which the chimney to the house on the half hereby conveyed now stands is alo inteneded to be and is hereby conveyed-- and all the estate right title claim interest and fee to them the parties of the first part for in andto the same To Have and To Hold the said tract or parcel of land with the appurtenances unto the said parties of the second part and to his heirs and assigns to their only proper use benefits and hehoof forever And the said parties of the first part convenant and agree with the said party of the second part and with his heirs and assigns that they will and that their heirs executors and administrators shall warrant and forever defend the same tract or parcel of land with all the appurtenances unto the said party of the second part and his heirs and assigns against the claims of all and every person or persons whatsoever lawfuly claiming or to claim the same In Witnesseth Wherefore the said parties of the first part have unto set their hand and seals the day and date first written F. Stone Clk *************************************************************** Larue Co Deed Book 5, pg 201: Fielding MERRIFIELD 9 Jan 1864: This Indenture made this 9th January 1864 Between Fielding MERRIFIELD and Abigail MERRIFIELD his wife of the Count of Larue(Crossed out) Nelson and State of Kentucky of the one part and G.W. REDMAN of the County of Larue and State aforesaid of the Second Part- Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of Three Hundred dollars to them in hand paid the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged do by these presents grant bargain Sell and convey to the party of the Second part a certain LOT in THE TOWN OF HODGENVILLE LARUE COUNTY KENTUCKY and designated on the plan of Said Town as LOT 11 and lying on the E side of the publick Square it bding the same conveyed to MERRIFIELD by Alexr MERRIFIELD whose deed be found of Record in DEED BOOK 1, pg 106 Larue County court Clerks office together with all and singular the appurtenances thereto belonging and the party of the first part hereby conveyed to and with the party of the second part to warrant and defend the title to the same free from the claim or claims of all and every person whatsoever. In Testimony whereof we have hereunto set our hand the day and year aforesaid F. READ, Fielding MERRIFIELd, George RODMAN & Samuel WILSON by H.S. JOHNSON Comissioner of the Larue Circuit Court in the case of Frederick KASTER assignee of George & Samuel WILSON against Geo. I READ, Fielding MERRIFIELD, George Wm. REDMAN & Samuel WILSON of the first part and John B. WATES of the second part Witnesseth---whereas the above names suit No 1130 which was instituted in said Court praying for a Judgement and sale of property in the pleading mentioned to satisfy a portion of the purchase money and whereas a judgement was rendered ordering the sale of said property and said property was sold and John B. CATES became the purchaser. Now therefore this Indenture-- Witnesseth that the party of the first part for and in consideration of the Judgement Suit orders and sale of aforesaid do by these presents grant bargain sell and convey unto the party of the second part and to his heirs and assigns forever the property in pleadings mentioned "to wit" the house and lot sold by MERRIFIELD to G.W. REDMAN and by Geo. W. REDMAN to Geo. T. REED and now owned and occupied by R.M. ENTIUS lying on the South east side of the public Square and a part of Lot ___ and adjoining the Jail lot To Have and to hold the house and lot hereby conveyed free from the claim of the parties of the first part their heirs and assigns forever and from the claims of all persons Whatever unto the party of the second part his heirs and assigns forever In Testimony whereof the party of the firs tpart by the Comissioner aforesaid have hereunto set their hand and seals the day and year first written by it is Expersly understud that the Comissioner is not in any wise responsible on account of this deed of Conveyance.
