RECORDS: Samuel & Sarah Pickerell to Robert Rachford Deed, Hardin County, KY ----------------------- Submitted by: Rick Pickerell Date: November 18, 2001 ----------------------- From the "Pickerell Peers", Vol. 4, No. 4, pp 77-78 Hardin County, Kentucky deed book G, p. 11: This indenture made the nineteenth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighteen witnesseth that Samuel Pickerell of the county of Hardin and state of Kentucky that a deed given by Timothy Coe to the said Samuel Pickerell to a certain parcel or tract of land to which the said Samuel Pickerell conveys from him and his heirs forever and assigns to Robert Rachford in the county of Hardin and state of Kentucky that the said Samuel Pickerell hath bargained and sold to the said Rachford one hundred and sixty seven acres of land more or less lying and being on the east fork of Otter Creek and bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning at two Spanish oak and dogwood on the south of a branch of Otter Creek thence south eighty seven degrees west 128 poles to two white oaks and gum standing on the east side of a dreen thence south 14 east 200 poles to a hickory, dogwood, and chestnut, thence south 70 east 140 poles to a Spanish oak, white oak, and hickory standing in the head of a dreen thence down the branch to the beginning. To have and to hold the aforesaid one hundred and sixty seven acres of land with the appurtanences [sic] thereunto the said Robert Rachford or his heirs and the said Samuel Pickerell and his heirs do further covenant and agree to and with the said Robert Rachford and his heirs the aforesaid one hundred sixty seven acres of land with all its appurtenances thereunto belonging from himself and his heirs and from the claims of all other persons whatsoever will warrant and forever defend. As witness we set our hands and seals the day and date above mentioned. /s/ Samuel Pickerell Seal /s/ Sarah Pickerell Seal I Samuel Haycraft, clerk of the Hardin County Court, in the state of Kentucky do hereby certify that on the day of the date hereof Samuel Pickerell and Sarah Pickerell his wife personally appeared before me in my office and acknowledged the within indenture or deed of bargain and sale to Robert Rachford to be their act and deed and that the said Sarah being at the same time examined by me separate and apart from her said husband said she freely and voluntarily relinquishes her right of dower which she has or may have in and to the land hereby conveyed and that she was willing the same should be recorded. Whereupon I have truly recorded the same this twenty ninth day of September 1818.
