This indenture made and entered into the 6th day of January 1834. Witnesseth
that Lot Pitman Clerk of the Laurel County Court by order of Jed. Hibbard,
Thomas Jones,James P. Carpenter, William G.Pitman, John Mershon and Benjamin
Catching, Justices of Sd. Court do place and bind Rebecca Hicks aged about
10 years in Dec'r. 1833, orphan of Allen Hicks Decsd.  to Jed. Hibbard Esqr.
With him to dwell and to serve him from the date hereof until she shall 
arrive at the age of 18 years. She shall demean herself well towards said 
Hibbard and serve him on all Lawful business during sd. term and the said
Hibbard doth bind himself, his heirs &c. to & with the Said Pitman Clerk as
aforesaid and his successors in office that he will well instruct sd.
apprentice in the business of House wifery and ***** and provide for her
sufficient meat, drink, apparel, washing, lodging & mending and all things 
fit & necessary for an apprentice and teach or cause her to be taught
reading, writing arithmetic including the rule of three and at the 
expiration of sd. term give her three pounds ten shillings and a decent
Suit of New Clothes.
