The Sentinel-Echo, London, Kentucky, August 24, 1972 Elizabeth Sargent, 90, Route 3, Box 373 London, died at 6 p.m. August 18 at the Marymount Hospital. The daughter of the late Samuel and Lucinda Lifer Middleton, she was born June 18, 1882, in Harlan County. She was married in 1898 at Harlan Co., to the late Milton Sargent. She was a member of the Baptist Church. She leaves two daughters, Mrs. Ludie Burkhart, Ages, and Mrs. Ivory Levianis, Route 3, London; seven sons, Joe Sargent, Route 2, London, Gus Garrett and Lee Sargent, Ages, College, Bryan and George Sargent all of Route 3, London; a sister, Mrs. Rhoda Westerfield, Knox Co.; a brother Brock Thomas, Knox County; 19 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at the House Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Vernon Minton. Interment was in the Sargent Family Cemetery, Route 3, London. (I would like to add a note to this: she was married as Lizzie Thomas in Harlan County, Kentucky to Milton Sargent in 1898-volume 11 page 74. I have a copy of the General Index to Marriage for Harlan County, Kentucky-Thomas family.)
