BERRY, Louvena Catherine (Hackney)

1860-1947

Mrs. Louvena Catherine Berry, 87, widow of the late Greenville T. Berry died at 
6 p.m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. S. W. Burton of Ellen, 
following an illness of two weeks. Mrs. Berry came to Lawrence County from 
Grundy, VA when she was 17 years old and had lived here since that time. She was 
a member of the Methodist Church. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 
p.m. by the Rev. S. B. Ball at the daughter’s home. Burial was in the family 
cemetery under the direction of Young Funeral Home. She is survived by her 
daughter and two grandchildren, Mrs. Hugh Kingsmore of South Carolina and Mrs. 
Howard Skaggs, Martha. Big Sandy News, October 30, 1947
