Burton, 67, a barber in Louisa for 46 years, died Thursday morning at his home, 503 Lackey Avenue, after an illness of three months. Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2:30 p.m. from the Free Will Baptist Church where he had been a member for 21 years, with the Rev. William W. Moore and the Rev. Clifford Austin, officiating. Burial was in the Pine Hill Cemetery. Born March 8, 1896, at Blaine, he was a son of the late Allen T. and Matilda Thompson Burton. He was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of Lawrence County Chapter 92, Disabled American Veterans. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Bonnie McGuire Burton, to whom he had been married 45 years; two sons, Alonzo Burton of Flatwoods, KY, and John B. Burton, Jr., of Ashland, and five grandchildren and one great grandchild. Graveside rites were conducted by members of the Lawrence County chapter of Disabled American Veterans and the W. O. Johnson Post 89, of the American Legion. The body was taken to the church one hour before the services from the Curtright Funeral Home to lie in state until funeral time.
