She was the wife of John Holbrook, Lawrence County jailer. She was born at Webbville, OH, October 28, 1883, a daughter of the late Mansfield and Lucy Rhoades Hayes. She had lived in Louisa for the past 16 years. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. at the Curtright Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kelly Patton and the Rev. W. S. Boggs officiating. Burial was made in Pine Hill Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, five daughters, Mrs. Oscar Combs of Route 1, Catlettsburg, KY; Mrs. Alonzo Queen of route 4, Louisa, Mrs. Heber Holbrook, of Logan, WV, Mrs. Blanchard Carroll, Louisa, and Mrs. William Adkins, route 3, Louisa; three sisters, Mrs. John Whiting, Mrs. Cora Perkins and Mrs. Connie Hillman, all of Ironton, OH; one brother, Thomas Hayes of Racine, WV; 22 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
