HOLBROOK, Calvin

1868-1957

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Monday for 88 year old Lawrence County 
resident who died Saturday in the home in which he was born. Calvin Holbrook, of 
Denton, was born September 25, 1868, a son of the late Calvin and Ellen 
Brumfield Holbrook. He had made his home continuously in the same house. The 
funeral was conducted at the home with the Rev. J. C. Hager officiating. Burial 
was made in the Holbrook Cemetery at Denton. Mr. Holbrook was a retired farmer. 
He was a member of Glenwood Baptist Church for 45 years. The body was taken to 
the home from the Curtright Funeral Home. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Esther 
Burke Holbrook; three daughters, Mrs. Samuel Perry, Mrs. Waller Perry, and Mrs. 
Clifton Rogers, all of Denton; a son, Calvin Franklin Holbrook of Denton; a half 
sister, Mrs. Phil Stanley of Rush, KY; a half brother, Forest Holbrook of 
Denton; and 8 grandchildren. Big Sandy News, May 23, 1957
